Works out not so well.

Well, I grant you two were trainwrecks but two went to teams that definitely wouldn't have advanced as far in the playoffs as they did (their first seasons) without them.

There are examples of old bucks pushing a team over over the top. Brad Johnson and the Bucs come to mind. Kurt Warner and the Cards....
If you take emotion out of it, which never really happens, Manning would be wise to stay with the Colts. The only way this happens is if he can delay his bonus or take much less of a bonus this year. Nobody is going to pay him top dollar if they are not sure he can play. Also, Manning is a creature of habit. He's been in the same offense for a long time. Switching to a new team may be pretty tough for him. If he stays with the Colts this year, plays up to his standards and stays healthy, his stock will be through the roof the year after.

The truth is his old team will be a new team for him....from GM to head coach to position coaches to players. Very little of the Colts from 2 yrs ago remains.

I agree. I don't see why Peyton would WANT to stay in Indy with all of the turnover going on. The new regime will very likely have a new offense so he'll have to learn a new one no matter what.
There are only a few that Manning will consider and none of them are in the West

Given the Bidwell history in AZ, that one is definitely out
Chargers are certainly off the list
Seattle, zero chance he wants to live there
No way he works with Rex Ryan
vikings, zero chance
Cleveland with Holmy ? maybe
Back to Tennessee ? perhaps
Miami ? maybe but Ross doesn't seem like a smart owner
St Louis Rams ? maybe, and that would be very enticing to the League if they moved Manning and the Rams back to LA

He can pick and choose his landing spot
My top three (in no particular order):

NYJ: Veteran, sane presence that will immediately install some professionalism and maybe put a veteran team over the top.

Baltimore: Same as above but with sanity and professionalism.

Dallas: Jerry is getting anxious and already backhanded Romo this offseason. Garrett went to a conservative game plan at the end of games last year in fear of a Romo mistake. This makes sense if Dallas can dump Romo.
My apologies Pikes Peak, I meant no slam on Seattle, its an absolutely beautiful city and cool place to hang out. We had a blast at SeaFair last summer

My comment was in relation to marketing opportunities, distance from his family in New Orleans & New York City and the lack of historical significance for the Seahawks franchise

Regarding Bidwill, the old man is not calling the shots any more. Reference the contract Fitz got. And then there's the opportunity to throw to Fitz....

And much as I hate the 'hags, Seattle is a nice place. But I hope you are right, I would hate to see Manning end up there.
He might have an issue with St Louis. They gave up 55 sacks last year.

Aurthur Blank is kicking his ass for giving Matt Ryan 6 year deal in 2008.

Manning would be PERFECT for Atlanta. Line gives up zero sacks. Manning makes a good running game great. Julio Jones, Roddy White, Gonzales. Indoors. Manning is closer to home. They would have a legitimate two year window at making the SB.

Instead he gets to watch Matty Melt break his heart for two more years.

Well, IF he can throw (and that is a big if ) he could get a gig at the fish market!
He should go to Jacksonville. He'll be down south, close to home. He'll be on a team that gets to stick it to the Colts twice a year. And the Jags would actually pretty good with Peyton, as they already have a great RB and a solid defense. Replace Gabbert with Manning and you have an AFC South Champion. This also gives you a chance to develop Gabbert, who clearly wasn't ready to play this year.

Redskins are also a possibility, but I doubt Peyton wants to work for a control freak like Shanahan. Miami is a possibility too, but I think Philbin brings in Flynn.
