Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports the Indianapolis Colts will release quarterback Peyton Manning on Wednesday.

Sources close to the team say the announcement will come at a press conference in Indianapolis on Wednesday with both Manning and owner Jim Irsay in attendance.

Several sources have told ESPN during the past month that Manning's throwing strength has dramatically improved as his nerves continue to regenerate following his latest neck surgery Sept. 8. Dr. Robert Watkins, who performed the single-level cervical fusion, has stated publicly that he has cleared Manning to resume his playing career.

Depends who Luck's QB coach will be and the talent they give him on offense. Manning hardly set it on fire at the start but then you have guys like Newton who come in on fire.

If im Indy, Im just going to do all I can to put as many quality OL in front on him. Protect your investment.

Manning could make the Jets look a whole lot better on the offensive side.
Manning should retire and team up with Favre to become a crime fighting duo. Favre, the grizzled alcoholic veteran and loose cannon. Manning the young up and comer with the can do attitude. They could get to the bottom of this whole bountygate thing and in the process uncover a deeper conspiracy that would shake the NFL to its core. If they can stay ahead of the bounty hunters.
