I'm surprised there hasn't been a players only meeting. Isn't that standard procedure when your team has been playing this bad?
Not enough players on this outfit to have a quorum

Who would lead the meeting? Rodgers? He's as much to blame for their dismal performance, as anybody. Who are our team's leaders? Jones? Jaire? Preston? Campbell? Gary? We need a Leroy Butler or a Charles Woodson, from this team, to step up and lead.
“William Henderson would set them straight!”

Christian Watson (hamstring) not practicing again. Sammy Watkins is. Watson not stretching with the team inside, either, which he did yesterday. No Hanson (biceps), Cobb (ankle) or Lewis (vet rest).

Aaron Rodgers is back, though, as he said he would be.

May get more games from Watkins than Watson.
Memo to Gute
Avoid adding WRs that have last names starting Wat. Just saying.
How does that work for DL and LB? Gotta be consistent with these rules.

One less WR the Packers may need to deal with on Sunday. That he just re-aggravated it on a Thursday does not bode well that he'll play on Sunday:
INJURIES
- WR Jahan Dotson left practice early after aggravating his hamstring injury, he told reporters. Dotson said he should be "all right" and just needs to rest it, per The Washington Post. The rookie WR has missed the last two games.
Sorry if Jahan is out, but I’m okay with him not playing this weekend. I’ve seen him quite a bit this pre- and season, he’s the real deal. Imagine a faster Randall Cobb in his early career. Also seems mature beyond his years.
Only two options. Either move Jenkins to guard and start Nijman at RT, or replace Newman with Tom. https://t.co/ujtA9mlCLD

"Trying to feel that out right now. ... Do you move one guy? Do you end up moving two guys? Or do you just work through what we're going through right now?".
Working through what we're going through is the definition of insanity.
mlf just cannot be that daft.
Jenkins at LG where he was All-Pro, Runyon at RG and Nijman at RT. As everyone says best 5
Runyon got whipped badly vs the Jets. I am becoming less impressed with him each week. Time to give Major Tom some reps. What's the worst that can happen? Plays get blown up before they start and the Packers lose?

Opposing teams don't need WRs, or QBs. They can run at will against the Pack.

Yes he can.

Rodgers is definitely not a leader. He's one of the biggest whiners.

JRJ did not have a good game v Jets, no one but Bahk did.
I'm not ready to give up on JRJ as I believe Newman's play has been very disruptive for the interior 3. The suck has been black hole like.
I hope they’re at least looking at Caleb Jones. He’s so massive he could just stand there, hold his arms out to the sides, and not have to even move and still block better than the bozo Newman. They just need to be done with that embarrassment.
Beat writers who were at camp daily reported that Jones, while having a lot potential, is far down the list of guys who at this point would be ready to play. Really a practice squad guy, who got promoted so someone else didn't claim and try to develop him. I think Walker & Tom would be ahead of him.
Caleb Jones is on Reserve/non-football list.
Wahle on with Herman is always worth the time to watch
\
Some highlights from the clip...
Footwork (of OL) not good...worse this year than last.
Myers has taken a step back in last couple weeks
JRJ had worst game of the season
We knew Newman would struggle
Regarding Jenkins...if you have a guy coming off an ACL, why are you making him switch positions can go to the other side of the line?
Missing Turner at RT hurts because he was so good, he allowed Newman not to be perfect, now with Jenkins struggling, it exposes Newman.
You can't have three guys not playing well next to each other (Jenkins, Newman, Myers)
Commanders will perform better with Heinecke than Wentz
Packers need to run away from Montez Sweat...his best is better than Packers best right now
On offense being too complex...says Rodgers comments about simplification means he'd rather have 8 pass plays that everyone knows inside and out
than 37 pass plays people know at a basic level.
NFL teams will win 10-12 games if you have above average players that run a basic offense really well...high football IQ. Not a lot of good teams in the NFL.

It honestly cracks me up that fans went from man we are sure lucky to have MLF and then over night he suddenly is the second coming of Scooter McLean.
As for the OL lineup and a potential shift of player MLF could be doing the ultimate coach speak. If I was MLF I sure as hell wouldn't give out that info if that shuffle is happening.

Its actually a gift, those people tell you early & often why you shouldn't bother with their posts.
Dude has The Winningest start to any HC career in the 101 year history of the league. Now, 3.3 years into his reign of "ineptitude", MLF finally loses back-to-back games and the dumbasses are out in full glory.
I read one mensa here who bellowed with great pomposity :
" All that winning just covered up MLF's shortcomings !
I know that pro coaches must play the "media game" and try to be as positive as possible ....but ....I would hope that everyday this week MLF is showing the players the clip of Jets coach telling his team at halftime "keep punching them in the mouth and they will quit" Regardless of whether Saleh may say this about every team (?), I would be telling the players "this is what a coach of a team that is less talented than ours, who beat us by 17 points, thinks of us ....and if he thinks that of us, every team we play is going to think the same thing ... is this how you want to be thought off?"
@NickiJhabvala: Washington's game status vs. Packers:
OUT
WR Dyami Brown (groin)
CB William Jackson (back)
TE Logan Thomas (calf)
QB Carson Wentz (finger)
RB Jonathan Williams (knee)
QUESTIONABLE
TE John Bates (hamstring)
RT Sam Cosmi (thumb)
WR Jahan Dotson (hamstring)
@WesHod: LaFleur on Sammy Watkins' availability for Sunday: "It’s kind of the up in the air right now. He’s gotten through practice the last couple days. Certainly, we’d like to get him out there but at the same time you don’t want to put a guy at further risk."
@mikespofford: WR Sammy Watkins practiced for a third straight day for #Packers on Friday. Sunday remains up in the air.
Not practicing: WRs Christian Watson & Randall Cobb, and OL Elgton Jenkins & Jake Hanson.
Jenkins was riding an exercise bike in Hutson Center during team stretch.
Word is Jenkins is getting a rest day, which will be reflected on injury report coming out after practice.
Christian Watson, Randall Cobb and Jake Hanson have been ruled out for Sunday’s game. They’re the only ones on the final injury report.

As I said previously, may end up getting more games from Watkins than Watson.
I thought I read that they already planned to have Watson out so the hamstring doesn't become a long term issue.
They may suit up Watkins and just see how he feels...it's not like they have some better option to replace him with.

I mean, while I agree with this sentiment...he kind a sounds like a buffoon when he talks like that. Regardless of the smartest guy in the room stuff, and all this hocus-pocus stuff, he will be ball-busted to no end if he doesn't clean his neighborhood up. NFL=Not For Long...

MLF (at least until he didn't have NFL-caliber of NFL-ready WRs) established himself as a very good Xs and Os guy. He's a football lifer and even at his young age has 100X more football knowledge than most of the armchair guys on this board (inducing me).
The problem MLF has is that he doesn't appear to hire coordinators very well. Drayton may have been one of the worst assistant coach hires in Packers history. Barry was better last year than most of us thought, but clearly has his limitations. Hackett has appeared completely in over his head as a head coach in Denver.
The Packers have been lucky enough to have some good coaches in the post-Wolf era. MM ran his course here, but he's got Dallas playing well with a backup QB that doesn't have enough arm strength to be a high-level guy. MLF is a good football guy. However, neither of them are the Holmgren level. And the difference is that Holmgren was as good as any coach of that era in identifying assistant coaches that were going to be future stars. The first NFL jobs that Andy Reid and Jon Gruden had were on Holmgren's staff. Obviously both of those guys won Super Bowls as head coaches. Mariucci and a few others also did well.
I don't see anyone on the staff that MLF has assembled that is any threat to ever succeed like some of Holmgren's guys were (Hackett is again looking overmatched). Maybe there is a reason why MLF isn't hiring guys that could be a threat to do that?

Amari is active on game days..... Can always run him out there for some snaps if Watkins can't make it through 4 quarters.

Mike Wahle was talking about MLF on Herman's podcast. Said one thing that he is seeing is that MLF is focusing more on his scheme than taking into account individual match ups, both favorable and unfavorable. He wrote in his pre game scouting report of the Jets that we should use traps to take advantage of their gap-splitting front. We ran an outside zone stretch play on first play on second drive for -5 ....Wahle said they were asking our o-lineman to do the impossible given the Jets d-front's athleticism & style of play and that he knew those plays had potential for disaster. Said we aren't identifying who is going to need help with their man along the front and making adjustments accordingly. Also talked about creating a culture of toughness and fundamental technique rather than scheme. He thinks that AR is correct, let's have 8 pass plays (could run those 8 out of multiple formations / personnel groups) that the WRs can run more precisely, than 35 that they can't. Again, execution / fundamentals beats scheme.
Wahle is an extremely bright dude. Navyman!
