Congratulations on a hard-fought win. The fumble in the 1st and our decision to go for it on 4th & 1 later in the game proved to be too much to overcome. The Packers offense is scary good and so is Randall Cobb. I'm proud of the way my team fought back in the end. Oh well, time to regroup and get ready for the Bears. Good luck for the rest of the season. See you in the playoffs!! Who dat?

Why in the world would Payton call a run right behind Olin? Didn't he watch any Bears games from last year? LOL! Saints are a passing team just like the Packers. Should have spread em out.

Unreal start to the season!

On cue.

Say "Hi" to 0-2 next week.
Everyone just relax. Holy Christ it was one game.

Mr. Yuck, chill out. Deep Chicago, play nice.

Great start to the season but it's quite obvious to me the NFL (& Roger) don't want the Packers repeating.

Thanks Armored. Good game.
Armoured,

Your team is tough, and I expect the NFCC game to be a repeat of this, the only question is the location. I think your D is better, and Sproles is an awesome weapon to say nothing of Graham. Good luck against the Bears.
The Saints are a formidable opponent for anyone to play against. If your defense gets 'fixed' by end of year, they will be big trouble.

Armored, after you've had some time to reflect and possibly review the game, I'd appreciate your thoughts on:
Your OL--seemed to struggle in first half. Made nice adjustments to pressure, but still allowed more pressure on Brees than I thought they would.
Defensive secondary--couldn't stop Jennings in particular, and barely slowed the passing attack at all. See any way to improve?
Play calling during the game--Of course, the call on a 3rd-and-1 and the last play call, but more interested in what you thought Williams was calling for red-zone defense (zone vs man). Judging by Collinworth's comments, it seemed that he was lost or 'on his heels', so to speak. That would seem to be totally out of his element. Do you agree? Do you think this might be a continual problem during the season against the high(er)-powered offenses?

First, I'll address the play-calling, especially by Williams: He made a big mistake going with zone coverage, especially on the Packers' first drive. It's 3rd and 12 and what does the defense do? Rush three and play zone. The result? First down. And to make it worse, it was a bad snap to Rodgers and he still made the play. Williams made the adjustments in the second half, where they held the Packers to 14 points. Our key defensive stops came on man coverage. Williams, like Payton, tends to outsmart himself with his playcalling. I hope they're able to keep that to a minimum because other teams in the NFC are sporting high-powered offenses.

On the OL, Zach Strief held his own. Carl Nicks struggled against B.J. Raji, which tells me that Nicks isn't all the way back from his injury because he usually isn't put on the ground like he was last night. The Packers' pass rush got some penetration on Brees.

On the secondary, I think they will improve over the season. The Packers WR corps is just that good. The Saints secondary were usually locked in on them, but Rodgers was able to fit the ball in tight spots. He is surgical with his passes. The Packers offense will probably be the best they face all season.

Usually, when we score 34 points, we win the game. The D collapsed last night as it did against Seattle in the playoffs last season.

You'll find that a lot of O-linemen are going to struggle against BJ.

Now go out and beat the Bears next week, you've got 11 days to prepare for them.

While it's true the Saints D did make changes and play better, I feel the only 14 points was more of the Packers slowing things down and more running. If they had kept going no huddle or semi-no huddle with 2-1 pass to run ratio as they did in the 1st half they would of had another 28 to 35 point second half.
The Saints played pretty well I thought considering they were on the road in a tough place against the Superbowl Champs and they held their own. Sproles is a nice addition to a team that was already pretty loaded, and their have some guys that can carry the rock to go along with a good QB and WRs.

I'm just glad the Packers got the W because the way things were trending late had the game been another quarter long I'm not sure that GB wins it.

Didn't they try passing on fourth down?
Hey Armored,

As a Saint's fan, I would sure leave this game with some good feeling.

Brees gashed the Packer's D all night and I have to agree with your pregame receiver assessment.

Sproles >>>>> Bush

And as with Packers, realize Saints D could use a bit of improved play!

Good game - it was a tossup. If there's a team in the NFC as good as Packers and Saints, I don't know who it is!

Haven't you heard about Philly's dream team? ESPN slobbers all over them & practically has them in the SB already. LMAO

I was talking about the last play of the game on the goal line.
I am confused...I thought the Saints won??? I saw Jimmy Graham do AR's belt celebration after a touchdown and I thought you had to win the game to do that. Confused Big Grin

Great game with two of the best teams.
