In a word, Tdog, I'd say no.
Now if Cooley was willing to go with a Cedric Benson deal, there may be a possibility, but if he wants to be a starter, I doubt he would be receptive to minimal salary, no bonus, incentives, etc.
His injury history is another strike against it. And I'm afraid Cooley is one of a dying breed at TE; he's old-school one, and it's hard to imagine him remaking himself in the new mold for TE's today.
He's caught 6 TD's in the last 4 years. He's 30. And doesn't to my knowledge fit in the type of WCO offense GB runs. I'd be surprised if GB picks him up.

From JSO today:

quote:
Offensive coordinator Tom Clements said DJ Williams' outstanding camp has opened eyes and that where applicable he'll be incorporated in the offense. It will be harder to find one-on-one opportunities for Finley than it will be for Williams because Finley's talent forces him to play with a target on his back.

But Clements sees the addition of Williams as just another way to stress a defense, and much of the game plan each week will be based on exploiting favorable matchups.

"There's a lot of options there," Clements said. "We utilize a lot of different personnel groups. We can be in one tight end, two tight ends, three tight ends. We can play them in the backfield.

"Whatever the makeup of our 53-man roster is we're going to utilize those personnel groups and mix it up and try to keep the defense off-balance."

Williams pushing Finley harder..
Williams really has impressed me in the pre-season. I don't think he's a guy that can threaten deep, but he doesn't really need to be that type of player with this roster. He strikes me as the kind of guy that if you really need to get a first down, you throw it somewhere in his direction and he's got the hands to make the catch almost every time. Seems pretty quick for a TE too, not necessarily fast, but quick enough to get the step you need on a defender for a completion.
