This writer thinks so.

He basically says that Sanchez will almost certainly be dumped by the Jets. And with what he's shown, it's doubtful a team would take a flier on him to be a starter.

The Packers could use a veteran QB to backup Rodgers. Not a superstar. Just someone with more experience than a fumble at the goal line a la Graham Harrell.

And that's where Sanchez and McCarthy come in. Sanchez, the author suggests, showed too much promise to be a cast off. But with a couple of years of McCarthy's "QB School" and holding a clipboard for an NFL MVP could do wonders. And the Packers could benefit if he's ever needed OR benefit if MM could resurrect Sanchez' career allowing TT to trade him down the road.

Not entirely off the mark.

The only way this works is if the Jets cut him and eat the entire $17 million cap hit for 2013.

The current plan is to try to find a "partner" to trade for Sanchez and pony up between $3 - $4 million and then try and restructure his current 2014 - 2016 contract worth about $34 million". Good luck with that.

It get's better though. The Jets have already set their sights on Michael Vick to be their QB in 2013, and that Vick is already hoping to land in NY, and that Rex has always loved Vick. I for one really hope they keep Rex and sign Michael.

So yeah, as long as the Jets cut him, I could see him being a reclamation project in GB.
I think he'd be better off going to the Vikings. I think he's more talented than Ponder even though he certainly has been slumping. He'd have less media scrutinizing him there and I think he'd improve getting a fresh start out of the glare of New York.

There's no doubt, he was awful ths year, but he's had some stretches in New York where he showed more upside than Ponder.
I don't see any benefit to the Packers in signing Sanchez.
No doubt he could benefit from learning from McCarthy, but he probably wouldn't sign a contract longer than 2 years.
Then what? He's not going to play for minimum/modest salaries forever.
It's possible some trade value could be created, but I certainly wouldn't count on it.

The benefit is having a guy with decent skills backing up a superstar that can come into a game and give your team a fighting chance to win a ballgame if an injury occurs.
The cap hit the Jets will take, depending on how they do it, to get ride of Sanchez will be between 8 to 14 million dollars. The Jets have some diffcult decission to make.
As for Sanchez benifitting from MM system I think he would, I am not so sure Sanchez see it that way. I bet he would want to go someplace he has a chance to start.
As for T-Bow it seems that the Jets were not that honest with him when they conviced him to go to NY.

Surprise, surprise.... I find it interesting that one reason that TT will not get the start on Sunday, is that if he does play well, you can bet that Rex and the rest of the staff (will have egg on their face) and be looking for a new job. So, in order for that not to happen, they won't even let him see the field.

I just want to go on record as saying that I do not want to see Rex Ryan brought in as a backup for Rodgers. Unless of course the choice is between him and Tebow, in which case Ryan might be the better option.

How so? Tebow was what they said he was going to be: a backup QB, occasional wildcat QB, and a punt protector. There was never a promise that he would ever be considered a starter. Just because the media made that claim doesn't mean the team did. The team said all along that Sanchez was the starter and after 15 weeks, that's what happened. I think one could make the case that the Jets should have used him more, but teams don't make promises of playing time to players (at least not that I know of). If the Jets made promises and Tebow believed them, it's on him b/c the NFL is not an honest place. It's about results and covering your own a$$ and Tebow and his agent should know that.

But I think Tebow was kidding himself too. If he wanted to start, why would he go to a place where the team just gave the starting QB a $50m contract? If he truly wanted to start, he would have gone to Jacksonville. But IMO, Tebow wanted to go to New York b/c it was a bigger market. There is no other reason why he would pick New York over Jacksonville.

This turned out exactly like everyone though: a complete disaster for all parties involved. This was never going to work and the Jets, Ryan, and Tebow should have seen it coming.
The Jets could not have handled this any worse. Sanchez is going to cost them a ransom. Tebow wants out. And the Jets still owe Denver $2.5 million for taking him off their hands.

Rex should be fired. But so should Woody Johnson. He's an idiot for orchestrating what's going to end up costing the Jets over 12% of their 2013 cap being paid to guys not even on the team. Oh yeah, he also gave Denver his 2013 4th and 6th round picks as well.
Ryan calling Tebow out

I can't believe it took 2 pages for this to turn into a Tebow thread. I don't think playing time was promised to TT, but Ryan coming out and saying he had higher expectations, but Tebow only sees the field for 3 plays a game, whose fault is that? Everyone knew it was going to blow up, I'm not a Tebow lover, I lived Jax during the TT days, and it was horrible. But Ryan and crew can't be upset about TT under performing, when he doesn't get a chance to perform.

This. I don't see any team letting the Jets off the hook for Sanchez.

I find this line of "reasoning" irritating (at best). Ryan and company are paid to win games. Saving his job is priority #1 for him and if Tebow gave him the best chance he'd play. Tebow can't throw and hasn't earned the playing time, end of story.

Because he was traded and the Jets gave the highest offer (which was basically a warm bucket of spit).
I don't disagree that Tebow can't throw, what I do agree with is, if he were to play, and the Jets win, who has to answer questions on why Tebow didn't play earlier, and if he did would they have made the playoffs? Tebow won't have to answer those. Did anyone think the Bronco's would make the playoffs last year, how bout beating the Steelers? Point being they brought Tebow into run the wildcat and to be a personal punt protector. They ran the wildcat 1 series every game, Sporano and crew had no idea how to incorporate whatever talents Tebow has into their offense. Everyone is at fault, but I wouldn't put it past Rex one bit to keep him on the bench, so he doesn't have to answer why he was on the bench, if he leads them to a victory?

Not true. Jacksonville offered a pick in the same round (which anyone could have told you was going to be better than the Jets pick) and more money $3.0m to $2.53m.

ESPN Article

Tebow denies having any involvement, but why else would the Broncos take less money and a worse pick? Doesn't add up.....
