They should have just let Peralta pitch until his arm fell off.

Either send Ax down to the Minors or get rid of his ass altogether. Closer's come and closers go. There are not too many closers who dominate for years and years....its a revolving door of 2-3 great/good years of closing and then scrap heap time. Ax blew his wad and now its time to blow town. When he was on, he was amazing to watch....when he is not on.....well, just watch the game film. Its ugly!
I really think teams have figured him out and he's either gotten lazy or he just doesn't have the confidence to be "the guy"

It's not that he's been figured out- he isn't controlling his pitches and he's dropping velocity to compensate to disastrous results. A fords whole career has been about control- if he has it, he's deadly. But if he doesn't, he's terrible. 3TO pitchers are not coin to win too many games...
Be nice if RR would recognize AX's issues and be smart about it.
EX: I thought it was good move to have Ax come in and get out of that inning, HE DID. That's what a closer is suppose to do. What does numnuts do? he brings him out to start another inning ... imo, dumb given the fragile psyche of Ax right now. Let him build some successes, let Kranitz disect it the next day and chat with Ax. Use him the very next day since he was used in a limited fashion and go from there.
We have 8 in the pen, so there is plenty of arms to coddle Ax's psyche right now and use him every day if need be, but limit his time on the mound to build successes.
We have a lot of problems in the pen right now, so Kranitz better get his arse in gear and start getting some individual programs going.
If you read about Dave Duncan, he is a master of creating individual programs for guys and relaying that to LaRussa on what the game use is for guys during their progression in the program.
