But wait maybe there is another great coach waiting for his chance at being a small market HC in the NFL. And his name is Sabin https://profootballtalk.nbcspo...nick-saban/#comments

That's a lot of growing up that can happen in a decade. Discounting McD is a mistake.
If he hadn’t been completely unprofessional with Indy last offseason I might agree with you.

The problem I have is you're essentially putting the whole organization in his hands. He'll definitely undercut Gortz because Murphy is a choad. There would need to be a rock solid understanding of who does what with a guy like McDaniels and I highly doubt that'll happen. I'd rather stick with candidates that aren't going to torpedo the new GM.
I don't totally dislike the idea of McDaniels but you'd pretty much have to clean house again. It would be full blank slate from FO to field.
Choad Murphy...can the official X4 Secretary add this into the record as his new name?
That's just Fedya in a mumu pretending to be a secretary.
Hateful.
And I have impeccable fashion sense.

I don't see that happening. I think he has learned some lessons.
I am souring on McD. Earlier I was for him, but I just don't think he is cut out as a HC. Look at how BB's other guys fared as someone posted on page 1. Yes, they went to crappy teams, but those teams stayed crappy and didn't improve. The only pro guy who's shown anything is O'Brien; he's been HC since 2014 and yet his first three years went 9-7, then 4-12 (no Watson, no Wyatt), until this year's 12-4. We'll see if he can sustain. Patricia has taken Detroit backwards and so far is making Caldwell look good.
IMO...
His first stint as a HC didn’t go well. Strike one.
He comes from the notoriously underachieving BB coaching tree. Strike two.
He screwed Indy over last year. Strike three.
Any one of the above is forgivable, but all three is a dealbreaker.

Vrabel
Vrabel actually never 'coached' under the tree, only played. There is no denying the lack of success of BB assistants however, I would still be OK with JMcD.
Really unfortunate that Vrabel isn't available. I like him and then we would have a 'M4.'
Mike McVrabel?
Dougherty's article about the Packers going after Bell is interesting. I think it's only a move that Gutey considers if he can't land a top pass rusher/O lineman/safety in FA this year. However, if the Packers are left with a bunch of $ and no top FAs to sign, it might be a decent risk-reward proposition.
Makes no sense to go after Le'Veon Bell. With that bullshit offensive line.
Fix the O-Line.....Packers don't need a $100 million dollar RB
