hamstring injuries and training camp go together like hate, I mean, love and marriage, don't they? I don't wish nothing bad on Cullen but I wish he was on a different team that I could possibly like just a wee bit. anyway, in that article I found this tidbit unusual:

and defensive tackle Mike Patterson, who has yet to be cleared after brain surgery.

don't remember hearing about that, sheesh.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP)

The Philadelphia Eagles have ruled out defensive tackle Mike Patterson for their entire training camp and possibly more because the incision where he had brain surgery in January hasn't fully healed.

Patterson, placed on the non-football injury list Sunday, was diagnosed with a brain malformation last August after suffering a seizure during a training camp practice at Lehigh University.

Eagles head trainer Rick Burkholder said a piece of Patterson's cranium was taken off in January so neurosurgeon Dr. Robert Spetzler could remove the arteriovenous malformation (AVM), a tangle of veins and arteries that doctors determined caused the seizure. Burkholder said Spetzler determined Friday after examining an X-ray and CT scan that the area of Patterson's cranium that he operated on had not healed sufficiently to allow Patterson to return to football.

''He wasn't totally happy with it,'' Burkholder said. ''He's concerned about some very small (potentially dangerous) situations he could get into in football.''

The Eagles are scheduled to begin practice at Lehigh on Monday. Camp ends Aug. 14, and Burkholder said Patterson will be re-evaluated in a month but could potentially miss more than that.

''We thought he would be ready because today is six months since the surgery, (but) that's just what happens with healing,'' Burkholder said. ''Everybody heals differently. I think we're all optimistic that he's going to play again. It's just not today.''

Patterson, 28, is beginning his eighth year with the Eagles. He started 15 games last year after doctors determined he wouldn't be at risk putting off his surgery until after the season.

Burkholder said Patterson's condition is not considered career-threatening.

''Nobody's alarmed by it,'' he said.

Burkholder said Patterson will spend training camp at Lehigh working with the team's strength and conditioning coaches.

''His desire to play is great, but he's comfortable with the decision,'' Burkholder said.

Ah, yeah ... good call Doc.
Nick Foles might be the best QB on that team.

Eagle fans are finding out what Atlanta fans found out. Vick is an electrifying playmaker that completes 52% of his passes and can't make it through a season.

Andy Reid is now preaching to Vick that he has to hit the deck instead of trying to extend plays. Um, extending plays is pretty much the only bullet Mike Vick has in the chamber. You can get away with eating the ball if you're Brady, Brees, Manning, or Rodgers. Not Mike Vick.

If Andy really wants to alter his behavior on the field, try a shock collar.
I still have nightmares of Vick running rampant on the Pack's defense back in 2002. But that said, it was 2002, and Vick at the moment doesn't look like quite the athlete he was back then.

Maybe he's holding back, but he really seems injury prone 10 years later, and that otherworldly quickness he had in his early to mid '20s now looks to be more in the "very good" class instead of otherworldly as he approaches his mid '30s.
He's still trying to play like he's 23 in the body of a 32 year old. The fact that he wasn't playing for 2 seasons (one in prison, one on the bench) probably bought him a bit more time with his style of play, but it can't last much longer at his age, his small (relatively) stature already works against him.
It's not just bad luck with Vick. He can't stop making stupid decisions that get him hurt.

This last one, he throws it downfield with a defender barrelling straight at him, leaving himself wide open for the hit.

So (duh) he takes one right in the ribs. Who'd have seen that coming.
exactly Pistol. the way he plays he's gonna get hit and hit good. and I tend to believe if they try to rein in the way he plays the results will not be very spectacular.

could be he's the biggest tease at QB in NFL history. outstanding physical talents at a position where it leads to getting yourself killed. then again, no, cause his decision making has never been very good.
It doesn't help any that teams have a ton of tape on how to beat Vick vs what they had 10 years ago. It's pretty simple really. Smash him in the mouth and he's a very different player.Teams have figured it out.
