Looking at this logically, I think the NFL almost always picks a player that is scoring (or throwing) TD's. DB's that have won the award in the past have usually had a pick 6. For a DL to get it, he'd have to have a ton of sacks and the game would have to be a defensive struggle.

I'm going to go with Nick Collins as a dark horse. I like the Sam Shields pick too - and Tramon Williams could also be in the discussion, but I think it's Nick's time to shine with Ben attempting to throw a lot of deep balls to his speedy WR's on the fast track of the Dome.
Woodson, just watched the NFL Networks Sountracks show, and he's focused on one thing. Watching him talk to the team in the locker room, he's going to leave it all on the field come Superbowl Sunday.

I'm with you on this. Raji will be unstoppable. As for a DL never getting it, Reggie could have gotten it instead of Howard back in 96.
On offense, the only dark horse player I can see is Jennings. I can see Driver and the other WR's having nice games, but not SB MVP games.

On defense? Matthews, Woodson, Shields, or Williams. Of this group, who is most likely to me?

Matthews or Williams. I just think Williams has more skill potential to get INT's than Shields and if the MVP is a corner, he has to get 2, I would think, and maybe 1 has to go all the way to the house or make it close.

If Matthews is real disruptive and has a 2.5 sack game.

Then again, Woodson could do that as well!

Lot of speculation, of course.
Remember when a member of the losing team one, a Cowboys linebacker?

Now they have the media vote for an MVP on each team, and the one from the winning team takes the award.

Let's have a contest. Who won the vote for the Packers in our only Super Bowl loss to the Broncos?

Chuck Howley, Dallas Cowboys.

Gabe Wilkins?
Probably Barnett or Finley ... Oh, wait a minute, they're not playing.

Somebody stuff their pieholes with some knuckles please, bust their fingers, crush their PC's and stomp on their gDamn cell phones ...

Mindless Imps.
Quarless or Nelson on offense.

Hawk or Collins on defense.

Guys like Rodgers, Jennings, Driver, Matthews, Woodson, Williams, and even Shields will get a lot of press before the game.
