Just tweeted:

@RickGosselinDMN: The two senior finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Class of 2013: NT Curley Culp and LB Dave Robinson.

Well deserved and long overdue. Robinson was a tremendous player and terrific representative for the Packers. Really a 60's era prototype for the big, rangy OLBs that came into the league in later years.

Downside of this announcement is that once again Jerry Kramer has been left out. Not only does that suck, but this will also lead the breathless media and interwebs to dwell on this, at the expense of the credit that both Robinson and Culp merit.

EDIT: Classy response by Jerry and his daughter Alicia, who's been leading the revived Kramer for Canton drive:
quote:
ā€@JerryKramer4HOF: Dad and I are going fishing. Thank you everyone for your support. Hope you will champion Dave Robinson. He deserves.

It STILL amazes me that the HOF itself voted Jerry the "Outstanding Guard of the First 50 Years" of the NFL in 1969... and now, 43 years later, with several other guards from that era already enshrined, he's not.

Sorry he upset other writers with his success and his outspokenness, but hypocrisy is hypocrisy. He was voted the best of the best a LONG time ago, and he's not in.

Just goes to show the overall integrity of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. If I had a choice, I'd MUCH rather visit the HOF that resides in northern Wisconsin.

Having said all that... WAY TO GO, Robby!!!!
