Okay guys, I know Robbie played a long time ago, but since I'm an old fart, I remember him as a great Packer.  Just thought we should honor him with a thread.  I'm wondering if any of you guys ever met him, or remember any of his highlights.  Or perhaps other family members met him or were at games where he made key plays.

If so, please feel free to share them.

Congrats, Robbie!  Another great Lombardi-era Packer in the Hall of Fame!

HELP! I’m being held against my will. I only have a few seconds befor

I was  young when Robinson arrived in GB but what I remember in retrospect is both he and Herb Adderly were offensive players in college and became great defensive stars for GB.

As for great plays- the 66 title game against the Cowboys; that play is still played the same way today>  How great he was in 67 when for half the season Starr was banged up and the defense was one of the finest in NFL history!

It was tragic for Robbie that he tore his Achilles it robbed him of his explosive speed and forced his relocation to Wa.

I met Dave and his kids at Dretzka Park in Milwaukee sledding. Had to be around 1971 +/1 a year I'd think. I lived very close and use to head over whenever there was enough snow. Not many big black cats out sledding so he was easy to spot. we all talked with him and (as I recall) two kids. He was very nice to us and it was quite funny watch him hit the slope.

I met Dave Robinson a handful of years ago.  He was attending the HOF Enshrinement Dinner in Canton.  I was there with my family, including my son, who was in elementary school at the time, and we were sitting two tables over from where he was.

During a break, I looked over and he was all by himself at his table - whoever he was sitting with him had gotten up from the table and no one had gone over to talk to him.  My son and I took advantage of the opprotunity and went over to talk to him.  I did the usual geeky-fan-thing and told him what big Packer fans we were and that I remembered him from his playing days.

However, my son said nothing, but all he could do was stare very obviously at Robinson's hand and his Super Bowl ring.  At some point, Robinson noticed this and asked my son if he wanted to try it on.  My son's eyes got wide and all he could do was nod his head.  Robinson removed the ring from his finger and put it on my son's finger.

To this day, I regret not having a camera with me (and camera phones were not yet common).

I still can't help but think what a nice guy he was to not only spend the time talking with us, but putting that ring on my son's finger.  Though I may not have a picture of it, at least my son has a vivid memory of it (and he's 17 now).
