As Feds Investigate NFL’s Distribution Of Painkillers, Former Lion J.D. Hill Recalls ‘Free And Loose’ System

CBS DETROIT - When hundreds of former NFL players sued the league in May, alleging that teams illegally supplied them with prescription drugs to keep them on the field, the federal government took notice.

The Drug Enforcement Administration has opened an investigation that will explore how teams obtain and distribute prescription drugs, including narcotics like Vicodin, Percodan and Percocet as well as anti-inflammatories such as Toradol, according to the New York Daily News.


The next time you have trouble getting enough painkillers from your doctor, of you have to stand in line to get a more effective antihistamine with pseudoephedrine, remember stories like this.

Every time another group steps up to sue the NFL, they turn over rocks that were better left unturned as far as the league was concerned

 

Lawsuits and work stoppages from concussions, drugs, treatment of cheerleaders and Referees contracts all opened a can of worms in how The Machine operates... and each time we get a peek at the unsavory nature of the game we love -  it just makes ya wonder. Not good for such an image-conscious industry
