My Mom and stepdad were friends with Mike Randerson and his family in the mid 70's. Mike owned (owns?) Rander Car racing. He did the cars for "our" guy Roger Regeth:

We went to KK in Kaukauna most Thursday nights for several summers to watch him race. Always hated to see Trickle and/or Kulwicki show up, as they were very likely to give Roger a run for his money.

RIP.
Watched Dick, Marzofka, Refner, Bach, all those ramrods back when they were kids racing at ridges or downtown Vesper or Rudolph. The only guy I hold at Trickles level is Bob Uecker. We lost a fine man this week.

So you have a feel for how deep he was rooted, his Dad ran a blacksmith shop in Rudolph. Dick used a lot of spare scrap steel to build his cars early. Bootstrap guy that did things his way to the end.
