along the line of Fedya's pollster, I was selected for a census "interview" or whatever in 2000.  the person came to my door and I told them I would not be participating as I didn't want to divulge personal information to the govt and I believe they use the numbers to justify anything they want.  she argued with me and said it just meant her supervisor would be coming next.  supervisor came a few days later, I told her the same thing and practically had to close the door in her face.  the last thing she said was "can I just mark you done in the normal range for everything?" (something like that).  I laughed and told her that she just proved my point - that the numbers are meaningless.   didn't hear from them again.

to the point of the thread...  the NFL is a big money corporation - no I don't trust them, just like the rest of the big money corporations.  suits have never had my best interests in mind and never will.  on the other hand, it doesn't really matter if I trust them or not.  I try to block out all the crap and just enjoy the football, and yes they keep making that harder to do.

The owners have bought Goodell. The shield is what he hides behind. It's not about the game or the integrity of sport (if it ever was), it's only about piling up the dollars. Much as we love the game and the games, it's wise to never forget that whenever there's money involved, principals are trampled underfoot. I leave my cynicism behind for three hours on Sundays (and Mondays and Thursdays and Saturdays during the playoffs) and enjoy the confrontation that is the game.
