The Malik Beasley Lakers version seems to be rearing its ugly head. Over the last 6-7 games he’s not been shooting well and the concern is these are wide open looks (mostly).

His mini-slump coincided with an interview he did about a week ago when he was lobbying to be part of the 3 point shooting contest at All-Star game weekend. Since then, he's gone 3 for 16. As you said on many of these looks, he has time to catch the ball and do a rhythm dribble before shooting and there is still no one near him.

I haven't seen this mentioned by any of the NBA writers or analytics people, but there is a big difference in transition opportunities for the opponent when Beasley, Connaughton, or Portis miss those corner 3s relative to when Lopez or Payne misses a 3 from above the break. It seems like every time someone misses a corner 3 for the Bucks, the opponents get a fast break layup or open 3 from the on the other end in transition.

When Lopez misses from above the break he's already back on defense and it's harder to run on them.

In Beasley's case, he better be hitting those corner threes at 45% because he is a traffic cone on defense.
