I guess we just need to play the Dodgers every game.

Hiura has been a difference maker the last few games. He's the king of the three true outcomes metric (home run, walk, or strikeout), but that's what baseball is these days. 104 of 173 plate appearances have been one of these outcomes.

If he got 600 at bats at this pace, he'd hit 52 home runs and strikeout 296 times.

I wonder who would have pitched the 9th without the 3 runs they scored there.   Would he have gone back to Williams?  It would have been fun to find out.

And now with Ashby on the 15 day IL  looks like a couple of bull pen games coming up.  Unless he goes with Costanza again as a starter.  And I like our chances with Burnes going again tonight. But the Dodgers have Gonsolin pitching and he is 15-1.  We may have to shut them out to win again.

Oh, and the Cubs shut out the Cards 2-0 in 1st game of a double header. Brewers pick up 1/2 game.

I was looking at the Dodger line up batting averages last night.   Take away, Betts, Trae Turner and Freeman, as a group they are worse than the Brewers.  Seems strange they have all those wins. They must really string the hits they do get together to score runs.  That is why I still have hope for the Brewers to make the playoffs.  They can do it too.

Other than Keston Hiura (854 in limited action), the Brewers have two guys with OPS right around 800. Tellez is at 802 and Renfroe is at 798. The Dodgers have 6 of their regular 9 guys with OPS better than 812: Lux (812), Smith (825), Turner (837), Betts (880), and Freeman (919).

The Brewers don't put anyone out there on regular basis as bad as Bellinger (660) . All of the Brewers regulars cluster between 704 and 802. It's the lack of top-end hitting talent that causes problems for them, especially against elite level pitching. Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts hit well against even strong pitching.  The Brewers guys are more overmatched against the Burnes/Woodruff types on other teams.

Take away Turner, Betts and Freeman?  Ok just deduct Burnes and Woodruff and Peralta from the Brewers pitching staff.  Think it might make a difference?

The Dodgers are really good top to bottom best that money can buy.  Color me surprised.  I can’t believe the smoke and mirrors BS they are pulling. I mean, it must me a mirage.  They can’t really be that much better.  Only their record and just about every statistical category would prove otherwise.

Unless your name is Donald Trump pretty much everyone with an IQ over 40 knows LA is the team to beat.

I know how to read stats. The Brewers don't have any starters betting less than .204.  Except for their top 3 the Dodger starters as a group are batting lower than the Brewer starters.   Just surprised they bat that low of an average yet still win.   That is all.

I know you hate my guts but I really don't care. I stand by what I post.

I loath the Dodgers

Yet they are best in MLB at OPS, best in slugging, best in OPS, 3rd in batting average, 2nd in BB, and 3rd in hits.  They are also 6th in MLB in stolen bases.   So collectively, they are probably the most consistent and dangerous offense in the league.

Having two position players that are borderline Hall of Famers if they play at the same level for another 3-4 years makes the whole lineup better. Better pitches for the guys hitting in front of them to hit (Freeman) and more distractions when they get on base for guys hitting after them (Betts).

Betts is still 29, has won 5 gold gloves, one MVP, and is a 6-time all-star. Freeman is not as likely to be a HOFer as Betts, but he's a former MVP and a 7-time all-star. Betts is flashy and has a WOW factor to him and Freeman basically goes for 20-25 HRs and 90 RBIs every year for the last 12.

If you take those two guys out, their lineup looks very different.

In the Brewers front office's defense, Yelich and Hiura were supposed to be approaching that level every year. In 2019, they were at the level. Since then, not so much. That's the biggest difference between the Dodgers and the Brewers.
