These are just some of the young players the Packers need to take a big leap forward in 2013-
the defensive players of 2012 and the offensive players of 2011

Its up to them and the coaches to make it happen, but there's enough talent there to give GB a hell of a boost in quite a few areas.

I already view Cobb and Hayward as guys that are going to hit, BIG. They will be TT's next CM3/Raji "you're not going anywhere" signings in a few years.

House, Perry, Sherrod, Manning, McMillian, Datko. Those are the guys that need to make the jump and become guys GB has to anguish over who to keep and how.

Crap... Lacy, Franklin, Jones, Bakhtiari, Tretter, Daniels, Worthy....

This team is potentially loaded in future cap problems. That's a great problem to have. And the benefit of drafting wisely.

And we haven't even talked about what happens if Jolly ends up being a contributor this year.
I was really starting to get excited about Perry last year before he went down. That play that wound up being a BS penalty against the Colts told me all I needed to know. Luck didn't even have one second to see him coming around the corner at the snap, and there was absolutely nothing he could do. For about a nanosecond, I thought he might have freaking killed him. You can't teach that.

Holy s**t. That's a 270-pound man coming at you with 4.59 speed around the corner, and he's mean and pissed. This year he'll actually know what he's doing.

He's healthy, he's had a redshirt year, he's learned the defense, he's learned the position, he's reworked his body... he's also got Datone Jones in front of him, CMIII on the other side from him and Raji scrapping in the middle.

We tend to forget that Perry is a freakish athlete. I like the way this all shapes up.
The part that's mildly interesting to me is that 2013 pre-draft needs were sometimes listed as :

Safety
ILB
DL
OT
Center

And while the fans and media weren't completely confident in the draft picks stepping up- the Packers front office were

Need a safety ? GB already drafted one in the 4th ( McMillian) and added another in UDFA ( Richardson)
Need an ILB - GB already drafted one in Terrell Manning and developed some in Brad Jones & Lattimore, Francois
Need a DL - GB drafted 2 in 2012 and more in 2013
Need an OT- GB drafted one in 2011
Need a Center- ask Henry

The front office is always couple of steps ahead of us, we just need to trust the development part and they've certainly earned that trust so far

Rookie safety McMillians' shortcomings last season weren't on the athletic side - he needs to improve the mental part of his game and GB has the coaches to do it.

Taylor, and he failed to live up to the expectations that AR created.

TE is going to be an interesting competition to watch. They signed Mulligan, apparently really like Bostick and Stoneburner appeared to made a good first impression.
Williams is a curious case. It sure seemed like a steal when the Packers drafted him. I kinda though he would be that hybrid guy they put in the backfield, used underneath, took seam shots, etc. We're still waiting, but maybe he's like Finley in that he is taking some time to get there. I'll bet the lockout hurt him, too. Last year was more like his rookie year. Now he can get some traction and start showing...

Indeed
It really is step up or step out time for him isn't it ?
His lack of size is working against him as GB tries to get bigger.(Mulligan)
His blocking isn't going to earn him a spot on the roster, so he better show something in the passing game in TC or he may be late August trade bait

Thank you for bringing this up. I thought Perry did a damn fine job as a rookie, in his limited opportunity. I'm sick and tired of hearing how he didn't show much in 2012 (particularly from the media). He's going to be a very good complement to CM3, mark it down.
