Mortgaging their future by buying a defective QB can do that to a team.
Talk about a ripple effect. It puts tremendous pressure on the cap, limits vet extensions and FA acquisitions, and affects draft picks.

If a team gets it right (Packers), the rewards pay off for years. When they don't (Bears, Vikes, Eagles, Jets, Jags; even the Rams are borderline with Goff), the results are disastrous.

Wentz had some good moments before he got hurt.  Seemed he never was the same after.  I don't think he can play again in Philly.  Some one is going to get a guy who has talent and experience along with questionable confidence and injury history.

Certainly less of a crapshoot than the draft IMO.  A good organization should be able to turn him around.

NE, NO, Indy and Pittsburgh come to mind.  I post these options with no idea of cap space, contracts etc.

The Eagles cap hit if they trade Wentz is $35m.  The city is in an uproar over Peterson switching quarterbacks.  It also appears that the order to do so came from up the line.

Pederson fucked up big time. His players seem upset by the move, the fans and media are pissed, and it's becoming obvious Frank Reich was the key to their SB run. Everyone else (Pederson, Foles, Wentz) sucks without Reich and he's got his team in the playoffs. Meanwhile Andy Reid won his SB AFTER Pederson and Nagy had left. Pederson has a mess though, the team has NO options with Wentz. They either have to make up play Wentz (he sucks) and bench Hurts (who will certainly want a trade), bench Wentz and eat that enormous salary on the bench, or trade him and eat that enormous salary. They can't negotiate a way out with Wentz, commitments were made and that dead money is set in stone. People keep asking Andrew Brandt this on twitter and he's unequivocal that they're fucked.

Yeah, I can’t imagine any coach looking to take a dive.  That’s 100% FO shit.  Clipboard Dougie was a player and I’m sure he has the same pride to fight to the end.  He can’t be that stupid to not know the fallout with the rest of the team by trying to pull this kind of crap.

Pederson is the fall guy here.  He could’ve told the FO to fuck straight off though too.  Still, that’s a pretty shitty position, set yourself up to be fired or have a team that thinks you’re a dick and will get you fired down the road.

The Eagles had high hopes that C. Wentz would lead them back to another
Super Bowl, so what did the Eagles do, they game him a contract that was
way beyond his expectations. Now look at the team, QB issues, Head Coach
issues, trade rumors, and look what it got you, a over paid QB who is on
the sidelines watch his back up getting things done. I have no sympathy for
the Eagles. BLAH, HA HA HA .

True. We don’t generally know if draft picks will fail or not. We already know Wentz has failed for at least one team.
