Yeah, it sucks that North American hipsters glommed on to the EPL and that's pretty much all we get coverage of.

I've got a friend who's part of Montreal's Italian community and has been a fan of one of the Milan teams IIRC for even longer than I've been a football fan, and he's been disgusted for the last couple of years about how good football from the Italian teams has been largely ignored.

My guess is competition will price City out of getting him...especially given his agent is dickhead Raiola. I fully expect Dortmund to boot City out of CL much like Monaco did a few years ago. Bayern will expose PSG...I am guessing something like 5-1 agg.

With NBC Sports going under, it will be interesting to see what kind of exposure the PL gets...will they force people to buy Peacock to watch it? That will hurt the sport.

When I had DirectTV I could get Bein Sports...saw all kinds of Serie A matches. First City match I was was in a sports book in Vegas in 1995....it was virtually impossible to get any news on PL back then unless you were a ManUre fan. I'd have to go down to Tower Records every Sunday and buy the Time of London hardcopy that was a week old just to be able to get scores and info.

Much easier today even for Bundesliga or Ligue 1 fans.

Well full disclosure, I didn't start following City till end of '94...my girlfriend was in love with Liam Gallagher, so we end up seeing Oasis 3 shows in a row, SF, Sacramento and LA back in Fall of 94...and the best thing I took from the show was their love of City. Next thing I know I'm burning hours reading old Manchester Evening Newspapers on microfiche in the college library to find as much as I can about them.

Started getting into them just about the time they got relegated in 96!

I followed from afar as much as I could, but around 2000 I think was when the PL stuff started becoming more regular on the innerwebs so it became easier. Also made it easier a dude I couldn't fucking stand was a ManUre honk...used to walk around with a David Beckham kit on.

Good times

Really unusual in those days for an American to become a fan of a Prem. team unless they were in England at the time. The first soccer jersey I saw at UW Platteville was a Blackburn Rovers jersey. Yes, Blackburn! They were barely a team in the 80's and, of course, I missed the fact that they won the Prem. during the dark old days of 90's football. I also missed Leeds winning the league back then. Leeds is my hometown team, but my whole life as a fan they were in the second tier until this year.

Incidentally, the second jersey I saw at UWP. A fucking Stoke jersey. STOKE!

Fringe kits are becoming a think now...I see all kinds all over. Hull is a popular one, QPR, Norwich...fucking hipsters!

One of my co-workers is a Chivas fan...we are talking pre-covid would drive down to Mexico 10 times a year to catch matches...when he heard FIFA is pushing MLS/LigaMX merger he lost it. "We don't need that pinche TRASH futbol!!!"

PSG is going to extend Neymar...if Mbappe leaves for Real, maybe Haaland is an option.

Clubs do not have the coin to spend like they used to...Barca is bleeding money...I think their debt is over $1.2B...if 2021 is more normal, they may get some of that debt down, making it a more likely spot.

PSG is sucking hind-teat to Moneyball club Lille.

Bayern would be a good spot for him if his salary demands were more reasonable. No way da Cherman Chempions break the bank for him.

If he ends up in the PL, it's going to be City...everyone else is buried in debt.
