Seems like he's the new Mbappe on the world football circle jerk scene. Highly talented, but he sure seems like someone that will command $150M and end up not living up to that.

He is sooo goood. Fun player.
Not sure why you think Mbappe has failed to live up to billing. Not even 23 yet and buried Barca last week with a hat trick.
BTW, Haaland release clause? 75m Euro. Someone is getting a bargain.
Mbappe is talented...but he's doing it in France. Barca isn't what they once were, Messi or not. I'd be more impressed if he were doing it in England.
Mbappe will never play in England. Spain is more likely, but you donβt have to wait to see what he does in his domestic league. Champions League will expose anyone and he has been really good in champions league play.
Yeah, it sucks that North American hipsters glommed on to the EPL and that's pretty much all we get coverage of.
I've got a friend who's part of Montreal's Italian community and has been a fan of one of the Milan teams IIRC for even longer than I've been a football fan, and he's been disgusted for the last couple of years about how good football from the Italian teams has been largely ignored.
Ignored! ESPN is showing every game from both leagues every week. You want it to be as big as the Prem. in America? Well, that doesn't happen overnight.
Haaland with 2 goals against Bayern in a loss. The boy is good.
My guess is competition will price City out of getting him...especially given his agent is dickhead Raiola. I fully expect Dortmund to boot City out of CL much like Monaco did a few years ago. Bayern will expose PSG...I am guessing something like 5-1 agg.
With NBC Sports going under, it will be interesting to see what kind of exposure the PL gets...will they force people to buy Peacock to watch it? That will hurt the sport.
When I had DirectTV I could get Bein Sports...saw all kinds of Serie A matches. First City match I was was in a sports book in Vegas in 1995....it was virtually impossible to get any news on PL back then unless you were a ManUre fan. I'd have to go down to Tower Records every Sunday and buy the Time of London hardcopy that was a week old just to be able to get scores and info.
Much easier today even for Bundesliga or Ligue 1 fans.
Oh man, you just reminded me of the bad old days. Waiting a week to get Prem. news caused me to ignore the sport from 1993 to 1998. To this day, I will here mention of a Spurs player from that time and wonder who he was. I missed all the Ginola years, the Klinsman years and most of the Gazza years. That fucking kills me.
Well full disclosure, I didn't start following City till end of '94...my girlfriend was in love with Liam Gallagher, so we end up seeing Oasis 3 shows in a row, SF, Sacramento and LA back in Fall of 94...and the best thing I took from the show was their love of City. Next thing I know I'm burning hours reading old Manchester Evening Newspapers on microfiche in the college library to find as much as I can about them.
Started getting into them just about the time they got relegated in 96!
I followed from afar as much as I could, but around 2000 I think was when the PL stuff started becoming more regular on the innerwebs so it became easier. Also made it easier a dude I couldn't fucking stand was a ManUre honk...used to walk around with a David Beckham kit on.
Good times
Really unusual in those days for an American to become a fan of a Prem. team unless they were in England at the time. The first soccer jersey I saw at UW Platteville was a Blackburn Rovers jersey. Yes, Blackburn! They were barely a team in the 80's and, of course, I missed the fact that they won the Prem. during the dark old days of 90's football. I also missed Leeds winning the league back then. Leeds is my hometown team, but my whole life as a fan they were in the second tier until this year.
Incidentally, the second jersey I saw at UWP. A fucking Stoke jersey. STOKE!
Fringe kits are becoming a think now...I see all kinds all over. Hull is a popular one, QPR, Norwich...fucking hipsters!
One of my co-workers is a Chivas fan...we are talking pre-covid would drive down to Mexico 10 times a year to catch matches...when he heard FIFA is pushing MLS/LigaMX merger he lost it. "We don't need that pinche TRASH futbol!!!"
Since this seems to be the generic soccer thread:
Bummer about Lewandoski...I REALLY hate international breaks for this reason. City have suffered major losses in the last 5 years from injuries in those matches. Kompany, De Bruyne, Zabaleta, Kolarov, Aguero...
Germany 1 North Macedonia 2. Best scoreline ever. That's like losing WW3 to Estonia.
Seen that.
Figured Germany will be attacking France tomorrow just to feel better.
Germany still could kick East Macedoniaβs ass any day.
Maybe. East Macedoniaβs resurgence has been especially impressive. They just beat SW Italy.
Okay, now that is embarrassing. And so fresh too. 1950 was a painful year.
This Haaland circus is ridiculous. Shocker Raiola is at the center of it. Calling it now, he goes back to Dortmund in 2021-22 and leaves for Barca the following year.
Why Barça? Don't Dortmund normally lose their players to England or Bayern?
The pandemic. However, PSG are pandemic proof. I think weβll hear from them.
PSG is going to extend Neymar...if Mbappe leaves for Real, maybe Haaland is an option.
Clubs do not have the coin to spend like they used to...Barca is bleeding money...I think their debt is over $1.2B...if 2021 is more normal, they may get some of that debt down, making it a more likely spot.
PSG is sucking hind-teat to Moneyball club Lille.
Bayern would be a good spot for him if his salary demands were more reasonable. No way da Cherman Chempions break the bank for him.
If he ends up in the PL, it's going to be City...everyone else is buried in debt.
Quite the win by PSG...3 away goals. Not ruling Bayern out, but damn. I think Lewa being out was the difference.
Bayern should have scored 8. They badly outplayed PSG, but you got to take your chances. I think PSG are in trouble.
Mbappe will be at Real Madrid after 2022 when his contract is up. Told the Frogs he's done there. Wonder if they will try and send him early and get some Francs from Real...
Soccer porn...
Hey fuck that globalist trash currency! It will always be Francs, Marks and Pounds Sterling to me!
PSG gonna split City's ass open like a pumpkin on November 1st
It's a tough match up for City.
The good news today? No more Mourinho for me.
Half time. How are City not up 3 nil?
Cuz we don't have finishers. Last great finisher we had outside of a top form Aguero was Kelechi Ihenacho.
Sterling, Jesus...just not finishers.
Best shot today vs PSG is to settle for 0-0 or hopefully worst case 1-1 to get the away goal. Defense is gonna have to be on point to get out of this one.
Not optimistic....
Job's not done yet but feeling good...

Big win.
Sans Mbappe in a snowstorm which made the ball roll at 1/4 speed
But I will take it!
Now just need to not shit the bed in the final
Will Citeh lose a single game if the sign Harry Kane this offseason?
