I'm concerned that all this cinderella talk will turn into a pumpkin if we take it too seriously. I love this team, too, for for cripes sakes, the Steelers are a great team with SB rings to prove it. They have got to be LOVING all the attention and love is getting, and how they are being virtually ignored. Talk about motivation!

Am I the only one who feels this way????

"virtually ignored"? Where I am all I hear about is what a great organization Pittsburg has, how the product on the field is so consistent over the years, all the stability throughout the organization they have, how large their fan base is, how it travels all over the US for their team, how they have fans in every city, .... etc, etc. All that and more from ESPN. I've stopped listening to them. Here they virtually ignore the Packers. If it weren't for X4 I would not know they were favored.
most picked us over Falcons and Bears.

Didn't matter. Seldom does.

Think about this, which I found on the web:

quote:
"When the Steelers squared off against a team that ended the season with a passer rating in the bottom half of the league, they were quite dominant on vertical aerials. The opposition had 104 pass attempts of this depth and gained 949 yards on 54 completions/defensive pass penalties. Add in the four touchdown passes and nine interceptions to the relatively low 9.1 yards per attempt (YPA) and it equates to an impressive 60.1 passer rating allowed.

Contrast that to their performance against offenses that finished in the upper half of the league in passer rating. Pittsburgh's foes of this caliber threw 66 vertical passes and gained 844 yards on 40 completions/defensive pass penalties. Combine that 12.8 YPA with the six touchdown passes and three interceptions and it means the Steelers allowed top-level foes to tally a ridiculously high 116.0 vertical passer rating against them.

That might not be a problem if the Packers showed signs of vertical weakness against strong pass defenses, but that was definitely not the case this year.

When facing a defense that finished the season in the lower half of the league in passer rating allowed, Green Bay quarterbacks posted a 109.3 vertical passer rating. Against teams that finished in the upper half of the league in that category, Packers passers notched a nearly equally good mark of 100.6. Strong defense, weak defense, it really hasn't mattered -- the Green and Gold have thrown downfield passes with consistent success all season."

If Pittsburgh’s DBs can't contain the packers passing attack, the packers will win.

I watched the start of the replay of the Steelers/Seahawks SB last night on NFLN. One of the first things out of Buck's mouth was that not a single player on the Steelers active roster had played in a SB before. Also, they were the sixth seed. Of course, they played Seattle and there was little SB experience on that team, but I think that factor is overrated. That Steelers team, like the Packers this year, had to play three hard games on the road to get to the SB. To me, that experience will be more critical than prior SB experience.
