Agreed. House is a pretty good CB in his own right...but the front seven has got something pretty special going on right now.

MM:

  • (On Shields) He's still in the protocol. He's making progress.
  • (On Daniels) He's getting better.
  • (On Daniels' performance) Heck of a football player. Having a very good year. Tremendous tenacity.
  • (On Datone Jones) He's getting healthy. He's practicing everyday. He's getting there. He'll be part of the rotation. Flow of the game is something can't project. He's definitely part of the plan.
  • (On Barrington) Doing a good job. Mentally, I think our defense as a whole had a couple issues we can learn from. We can correct those. Sam did a good job.
  • (On Hawk) A.J. still has a role. We have a lot of packages. We'll see how Atlanta comes out. He's been an outstanding football player for us. He's still a part of it.
  • (On Ha Ha Clinton-Dix) I think he's doing a really good job to date.
  • (On youth) We've been pretty much the same age the last nine years. We've had interaction between veterans and young guys. I think we have a good blend. I think the interaction keeps everyone young.

Atlanta has a bit of potency on offense, but their OL is in shambles. I wish Jones and Daniels were 100%, but we have enough of a veteran prescence at OLB to produce a good pass rush. Clay and Peppers both should rack up some sacks. Julio is there only serious threat, and Williams and HHCD should throttle him.

Clay (again) and Barrington should be able to control Jackson. Safeties needs to support tackling to keep him contained.

Offense should smoke' em early and often. Their pass rush is inconsistent, at best, and they don't have the horses to keep up with our trio of WRs. OL has been playing well, and should even be able to get Lacy plenty of yards.

From MM today:

@WesHod: #Packers injury report:
Out - ILB Lattimore, DL Robinson
Questionable - CB Shields
Probable - DL Daniels, Lang, DL Boyd, Sitton, OLB Perry

@WesHod: MM on Shields: Sam Shields is obviously going through the protocol. Medical staff told me he still has a chance to play.

@WesHod: MM on Perry: I think he'll be ready for me. Good week of practice. I think the extra day will help him. Clearly better this week.

@WesHod: MM on Lattimore possibly going to IR: I don't think we're there.

I say let Shields rest if need be.

If the Packers come out lackluster and make mistakes, then they're capable of losing to any team in the NFL.  KC is a pretty good team and they lost to Jacksonville Tennessee and Oakland.  Not suggesting they play Shields if he isn't quite healthy, but the Packers need to be prepared on offense and defense and play to win.

Because Bart more than likely won't be able to accompany him and TOG wouldn't be able to take the boos that will rain down upon him.

From the Press Gazette:

Lance Allan of WTMJ-TV in Milwaukee quoted sources as saying Favre was coming to the game.

However, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported that Favre and Bart Starr Jr. were coming to Green Bay for a chalk talk and a tribute to Bart Starr at Brett Favre's Steakhouse in Ashwaubenon, just east of Lambeau Field. Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young also was to attend the event, a benefit for Rawhide Boys Ranch near New London, which the elder Starr has long supported. Starr, 80, is recovering from two strokes and a heart attack and was unable to attend.

Mortensen also reported that Favre had no immediate plans to attend Monday night's game.

ESPN reporters Rob Demovsky and Jason Wilde reported Favre was traveling with the younger Starr on a flight that originated in Birmingham, Ala., where Starr and his father live, and stopped in Hattiesburg, Miss., where Favre lives, before heading to Green Bay.

I really don't think it would be raining boos on Bert Faver.  I think you'd hear a smattering of just about everything.  Some would cheer wildly in their Vikings #4 jerseys.  Some would clap politely.  Some would probably remain silent and some would boo.  I think it would sound like exactly that - a lot of different things going on.

I'd probably put myself in the golf clap crowd.  I'd clap for a few seconds and then that'd be enough.  I'd probably be clapping simply because this crap would finally be over and we could move on from this idiotic melodrama.

I'm gonna guess that he does end up at the game in a skybox and that at some point a camera will show him on national TV, and possibly on the scoreboard in Lambeau to get a gauge on how he is received by the fans.  whatever, I'll be there rooting on the current team in its drive to another Lombardi.  bert can do whatever he wants just like me.
