Thought this was an interesting article, fantasy or not.....

Training camps for all NFL teams are kicking off today and tomorrow. If that doesn't raise your excitement for the upcoming real and fake football seasons, I don't know what will.
For all player, injury and team updates as teams get going, go here.
Trying to guess which fantasy football rookie rushers will be the Doug Martin of 2013 is also surely to peak many fans' interests. There are some big names out there that are receiving more draft love as the season approaches, including Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell and Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard.
Bell and Bernard are in good situations and could be the best first-year runners this year. But what about Montee Ball and Eddie Lacy? I was recently asked which running back I thought would have the better season this year.

Both backs are on great teams, and it never hurts to be lining up behind Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers in your first season. For that reason alone, despite having yet to take a single handoff in the NFL, Ball and Lacy won't come cheaply in drafts this summer.
If I had to put money on one of them this year, though, I'm betting Lacy is more productive. Health will be the major question behind whether Lacy can deliver in his first year, but the Packers want him to end a string of seasons in which the Cheese Heads have failed to find any consistency with a primary rusher.
Alex Green, DuJuan Harris and James Starks have all been tried (largely unsuccessfully) and are still on roster, but they're only around for depth now. Johnathan Franklin is the only real threat to unseat Lacy if he struggles or is injured, and Franklin is a rookie, too.
Lacy's size (5-foot-11, 230 pounds), physical running style and ability to break tackles give him a distinct advantage as a true No. 1 back that Green Bay has coveted for a long time.
Ball, on the other, has a much more extensive and successful collegiate resume to show for, but he also carries durability concerns and has plenty of wear on his tires.
In Denver, he'll enter training camp as a third-down option behind second-year slasher Ronnie Hillman. Don't forget, Knowshon Moreno is still around, too. It's becoming clear that the Broncos eventually want Ball to take the lead-back role from Hillman, but he won't be rushed into that job, especially if Peyton Manning has anything to say about it.

Fantasy Football: Eddie Lacy Vs. Montee Ball :: KFFL - Article

Kind of a dumb take. Green Bay rotates backs more than Denver and Ball's a better receiver than Lacy while the Packers drafted Franklin (who excels at that role) also. On another front, the AFC West looks pretty soft so even if Manning were to go down Ball could still be fairly productive fantasy-wise.

I'll take a wait-and-see approach to a Packer back being a good fantasy producer. Even at his best, Grant was mediocre from that standpoint.

After today I would put Lacy on my fantasy team.  But like Herschel says, Franklin will likely have a role too.  I remains to be seen how the coaches will use these 'embarrassment of riches' at RB.

I can safely say don't draft Starks or Green - unless you play fantasy football purely for the fun of it.

If you're referring to the one on the right it's straight from packers.com from Sunday's practice.  I saw that pic yesterday and thought it was one of the camp fodder guys.  Maybe it's a weird angle, but he looks a sloppy mess. Looks like it's going to be Bus or Bust

But something doesn't add up.  Sure everyone looks bigger in pads but as far as I know, Lacy isn't wearing pads around is belly section.  He just looks so much thinner in that area in the shorts photo.  That is one large mofo.

Maybe since things have amped up in camp with wearing full pads and full contact he is wearing rib pads now.

Here's another quick video of Eddie Lacy (and Franklin) at the jugs machine first day in pads. ...

It's all about perspective.

Can The Pack sign the (um) guy? on the left in that picture.  All he would have to know is to tackle the guy with the ball.  The rest of the scheme wouldn't matter.  Also, I'm pretty sure he'd play for the food.  And if we could find a few of his buddies .........

As for Lacy, ultimately he will only be judged on results.  If you go by appearances only there would be some very successful guys who wouldn't have gotten a chance.  So I don't care what he looks like if he can move the pile in 3rd and short.

It's only a couple of catches each but it's striking how much softer Franklin catches the ball. Lacy almost fights it while Franklin just appears so natural in that clip.

Yeah, if Harris can't get on the field he'll be gone quickly. Starks and Green are probably fighting over one spot though I suppose they could both make it if they run very well and contribute on Special teams.

i'll take lacy over ball.  lacy is a more natural runner, and besides being bigger and more powerful, i think he has quicker feet and faster decision making which will allow him to better adjust to the pro-game speed.

What I did notice in that clip is how freaking big Starks looks running away just as Lacy catches his first pass.

Starks is 6'2" and Lacy is 5'11"... that 3" is a lot.  That's what she said.

From a very good source,  that yes there is concern within the organization regarding Lacy (his three favorite things to do are sleep, eat, & watch TV), but the Packers are fully aware that this is why he dropped in the draft & are willing to gamble on him.
