Non story in my opinion. The Cowboys were many kids' favorite team growing up in my generation including many Wisconsin kids. I'm 3 months older than Favre so I remember the late '70s/early '80s when the Cowboys were massively popular. With no Pro team in Mississippi when he was growing up, I can see why he latched onto them like many other kids my age did.
It doesn't matter that he was a Cowboys fan- not earth shattering anyway.
But hat is telling is how he felt about the '96 team's chances against the Cowboys. He wasn't really into the challenge... the drive and will to be a champion wasn't always there. I think that's where the diva part came in.

No. He had the drive before the Super Bowl title. He was afraid of screwing it up if he had to face Dallas just like his buddy Tony Romo screws up.

I guess ol' Brent still doesn't remember the play since he sure wasn't "just pushed." The player slammed him down pretty darn good. It may also have been the first time he was totally knocked out, but it wasn't the first time he was knocked silly. He's still suffering from that. 
why is this an issue. Rodgers dreamed of playing for the 49ers, Romo dreamed of playing for the Packers, Chance Warmack now dreams of playing for the Titans. As kids we all had similar dreams.

He actually said this when he was still playing with the Packers. Some people cited this as a possible reason why he always played so poorly at Texas Stadium (it was the biggest stage in his mind, and he choked consistently there as a result).

Frankly, I thought the Cowboys had a lot to do with it.
He played like garbage in games where the Packers were better than the Cowboys too. Good examples are 1996, 1999 and 2007.

Just a point, Romo was never a Packers fan. Read it in a interview when he became the starter in Dallas. But the point remains. Who gives a flip? He's a turd, move on.

In fairness, I was at the game in '96 and 3 starting recievers were out for that game, Freeman, Brooks, and Chmura. They did sign Rison the day after that loss and never lost another game that year.
Also, GB and Dallas had identical records when they met in '99 and '07. Not seeing how the Packers were demonstrably "better" in either case.
Watched the '96 NFC-C game versus CAR last night. Favre played so-so, Levens was huge, and the defense was awesome like they had been all season. IMO, without that defense and Desmond Howard, Favre doesn't get that ring in SB31.
He basically gave CAR 10 of their 13 points - INT to Mills inside the 25 (which was returned to the 2), and then the oops I fumbled at their own 35-ish.
Madden and Summerall should have retired long before that game.

That was the game when I realized Rodgers was going to be a player. He almost got his first comeback win that day.

Agreed, Reggie was MVP for us that year.
We won with AR 2 years ago, and he was awesome. But the D made some huge plays in the SB as well, and we may well have lost it had it not been for Picket, Collins, Matthews, and then we also had Raji's pick vs the Bears.

Favre played pretty well in Superbowl XXXI. If not for Howard he is probably the MVP. If you remember Madden voted for Favre for Super Bowl MVP.

Brett single handedly cost them that game in '99. There are random games that stick with me, and that is one of them. Two plays in particular that I remember is Brett overthrowing a wide open, uncovered Antonio Freeman (Deion Sanders was covering, but he literally stopped running and gave up in the middle of the route due to a foot injury) where he could have walked into the endzone for a 70 yard TD, and then him throwing a 95 yard pick six to George Teague as they were driving in Dallas's redzone for a game tying TD with under a minute to go. And to make matters worse, it was another loss to Jason Garret (yep, he was the QB in that one too). Yeah, the crappy Ray Rhodes Packers were the better team that day against a crappy Chan Gailey led Cowboys team, and Brett choked, hard. And the 2007 game? The fact that they had identical records meant nothing. The Packers were by far the superior team, and BrINT handed them the game on a silver platter. Before he went out, he was playing what looked like it was going to develop into the worst game of his career. He probably would have finished with 5-6 INTs and a 40% completion rate in that one. The only type of cowboy he had dreams about are the brokeback mountain cowboy types.
Don't want to leap into the Favre debate but the quote about 'without the defense" Rodgers would not have had a ring either is disingenuous. Had Nelson, Jones and Swain not dropped those 9 passes- Rodgers throws 6 tds an GB wins 52+ to what ever so I don't think it is the same. Rodgers had a game for the ages that night!
