Of course. It’s the brave new world of college football. Wisconsin never was a blue blood, but at least they hung in there. They were always competitive and, when the stars aligned, they could make a run at a Big 10 Championship. Now it looks increasingly like they will be circling the drain with the β€œhave nots” of the Big Ten. We don’t have enough β€œUncle Ts” to throw big $$$ at mid-level linebackers from Syracuse.

I agree. I think the biggest problem college football has is that it's likely that programs that recruit 3-stars and develop them into NFL players after redshirting them and being patient will lose those players to the portal after their 2rd or 3rd year. Why would you stay at Wisconsin if Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, or Michigan recruits you and will give you more money and more exposure to NFL scouts?

It's one thing to know that you aren't going to get 5-stars to begin with. It's another to know that even if you develop one, he'll either go early to the NFL or go even earlier to one of the elite programs.
