This is not where Brian Brohm envisioned himself six years into a professional career.
Are you kidding?
He has taken refuge in the Canadian Football League. As a backup, barely, keeping a career alive.
For those counting, Brohm has started two games in three leagues since throwing for more than 10,000 yards and 71 touchdowns at Louisville.
From across the border, the former Green Bay Packers bust is in no state of denial.
"It definitely is humbling going from being a second-round pick and highly thought of," Brohm said, "to being the guy that nobody wants to sign."
So, call it a state of reflection. Brohm, 28, knows what went wrong in Green Bay. He has rewound, rewound and erased the "what ifs" in his head. This 2008 second-round pick â the one ESPN's Todd McShay once said had a greater "upside" than Aaron Rodgers â is the No. 2 quarterback for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. His regular season began last week.
Fine by Brohm. He's at peace with this reality.
The goal now is to play quarterback as long as he possibly can.
"You do have to humble yourself," Brohm said. "And for me, it was kind of a test to see how much I really loved playing football. I think I've proven that I really love playing the game. I want to get better."
