@TyDunne
Newhouse not at practice, Sherrod in his place.

No word on Newhouse. We get MM later. Could have suffered injury yesterday. No idea right now. Obviously 78 vs Allen not ideal.

@RobDemovsky
Also not practicing for the #Packers: Shields, Matthews, Zombo, Sitton, Dominguez, Clifton, Pickett and Neal. Full report in abt an hour

Newhouse indicated last night that he was on an airplane. Could be a family sitch.

I don't believe Newhouse is hurt. He was on a plane and had some personal issue he was dealing with. So he will stay on the L and Bugula at RT.

Sherrod was just taking rep's in Newhouses absence.
MM: Ryan Pickett with a concussion from yesterday. Listed as questionable. Going w/high side of caution with him. Believes Ryan could be cleared tomorrow.

MM: Shields making progress. Officially listed as doubtful. Tomorrow is key day.

MM: Newhouse and Dominguez both non-injury related absences. Will be expected to travel and both expected to play Sunday.

MM: So'tto getting ST's reps. Appears he will be active Sunday.

MM: Matthews and Sitton being rested. Both expected to play. Same with Woody.

Charles Woodson, CB Foot/Knee Limited Participation Probable

Frank Zombo, LB Knee Out

McCarthy on:

* Newhouse and Dominquez will be back for the game.

* Pickett came in today, happened some time during practice yesterday. Feel confident Ryan will be cleared tomorrow.

* Shields will undergo more tests tomorrow. That’s the key day to be cleared in time for the game.

* Marshall’s ready to play in the game on Sunday. He’s where he needs to be, with his family right now, and I anticipate he’ll be back tomorrow.

* So’oto has an opportunity. He’s been getting ready on ST and the OLB position. We’ll talk about those decisions today. Our inactive list is not where you’d like it today.

* Sitton, Matthews, same category. Worked them yesterday because of pads, there’s some fatigue involved and they hit their workload.

Other than Clifton being OUT, the injury hits are mostly on DEF... McCarthy's comment has to be directed toward the hit to STs.

This is translated in MM speak to mean he is on life support and there is no way in hell he plays on Sunday.
@RobDemovsky
Caught up with Mike Neal. Confirmed what a source told me on Monday. No guarantee he'll be able to play this yr. Can tell it's killing him.

@mneal96
No winning with talking to media! I'm fine people. I'm healing the way I'm supposed too! Don't believe everything you read!

His season isn't dead yet. Defensive end Mike Neal said Friday that he will not return to action immediately after the bye week as he initially hoped for, but he is still aiming to return this season.

The 2010 second round pick has missed the entire season to this point after having surgery to remove chunks of cartilage in his knee.

"I feel good. I'm optimistic. I hope it works out," Neal said on Friday. "I can only take it in stride."

Neal added that he hasn't suffered any setbacks since telling reporters Sept. 29 that he'd be back. Still, he did say that he won't be ready for Green Bay's first game after the bye, Nov. 6 at San Diego.

"I can only do as much as I'm able to, as much as they let me do," Neal said. "I'll just go from there. I'm still optimistic. I still hope to play this year but when? I just don't know."

There was a sliver of good news for Neal this week. He did return to the practice field for some pass-rushing drills.

"Just got out there and ran around to see how I responded to it toward the end of the week," Neal said. "I'm trying to build up a tolerance so it'll be healthy enough for me to play."

I'm not holding my breath. Not only does he get hurt all the time, but he doesn't seem to be a particularly fast healer.
House will get in after Bush and Lee most likely. House will be the last man in because he is a rookie and needs to get up to speed if he can stay off the trainers table.

You can never have enough depth at CB and hopefully House will rise to the occassion when called on. He does have excellent coaches and teamates to get him up to speed.
As for Neal, looks like the guy has had some bad luck in the health department. I hope he can join the team late this year, and help them make a Super Bowl run. That said, if he is out for the year, I'm going to have to file Neal in the category of, "Don't expect a lot and you may be pleasantly surprised." Two years on IR will have that effect.
