thanks for the link. ouch. that does hurt. Yeah, I was watching that Iowa/O$U game and they kept mentioning the QB was from Menominie and I was wondering why the Badgers didn't get him. Now we know.
Menomonie: in Wisconsin. Where UW Stout is. Quite a fun town actually.
Menominee: in the UP. Technically it's Michigan. Yeah, well they're Packer fans there, so don't tell them that. I was born there. Nearest hospital to Peshtigo, Wisconsin.
Say it right.
man, that just totally sucks

?? I don't know, Pistol.
I always thought it was pronounced PESH-ti-go. But some folks do say PESH-tee-go. potato-patato I guess.
Mom is from Peshtigo, Dad is from Coleman.
Did a report on the Great Peshtigo Fire in college...had to educate folks that Chicago wasn't the only town burning.

Ha ha, I was grilling you on your Menominee vs Monomonie mix up, not Peshtigo.

Cool my Dad is from Lena!
I was born up there but grew up in GB (Allouez and DePere).
Pistol: ha. yeah. I went back to read EKG's link again today. I noticed the "ie" at the end. I think I was just thinking about Menomonee Falls, WI type of spelling. Yes, UW-Stout a nice place. I went to UW-Oshkosh but some high school girl-friends of mine went to Stout. I think they majored in Hotel-Restaurant Management as Stout was known for that major.
I can't help thinking of how good the Badgers would be with the present team + this QB. I think they just may have been legit title contenders.
Lots of reasons to say ****ing Gary Anderson, but I found this interesting in the linked article.
Less than a month later, Andersen left for Oregon State and UW hired Chryst to replace him. Chryst tried making another run at Stanley, but Stanley remained committed to the Hawkeyes.
âPaul worked hard on him,â said LaBuda, who has led Menomonie to five WIAA state titles. âBut Paul also understood that he had given a commitment to Iowa and I think he respected Nate for that. He did everything he possibly could. It was a timing thing.â
Stanley still had a chance to play for UW, but decided to stay committed to Iowa.
And that's OK
From the article:
"
And, yes, Stanley could have been a Badger.
âBut thatâs water under the dam,â LaBuda said."
An unintentionally apt metaphor perhaps, as water UNDER a dam is generally a harbinger for disaster.
