I didn't see any thread for the game day experience, so I thought I would start one. Only mine started before the game.

We almost didn't make it. (See: Photo) We were headed north on 41.

Some yahoo x number of vehicles ahead stepped on their brakes.

Chain reaction, of course. The pickup ahead of us made a dead stop. We were just making the stop and I was thinking, "I hope the car behind us can..." and then WHAM. Pushed the car under the pickup. Picture shows what the car looked like after the truck was hauled off. Son was driving his girlfriend's car. He has whiplash, she got bruised up. Both with scrapes from the airbags. Grandson and I were in the back. Our glasses went flying off. It looked and smelled smoky to me so I was yelling we needed to get out of there, but it was just the air bags. (I never experienced them before.) Grandson and I felt sore from the seat belts. This was a more violent rear-end collision than the one I had in my car a few years back. Believe it or not, we're lucky the gf *had* a hybrid. The back end is reinforced to protect the batteries. I had a container of cookies next to me and they went flying. Son and gf said they remember seeing all those flying cookies before the air bags deployed.

My son has a friend who lives not too far away, but he was at the game. His friend called his wife to have her pick us up in his truck, and let us use it to get to the game and then home.

It was gratifying to have people stop to help. A couple of nurses stopped and helped son's gf by making sure she didn't have anything broken, etc. I hope the others were able to find their way to see at least part of the game. We missed the first few minutes of the first quarter. The game seemed almost surreal after what we had just gone through. I admit, we were a bit subdued but I did manage to scream and yell when required.

I'm a bit sore and achy today but went to work and made it through the day.

Glad you're OK Quietone----maybe St. Vince was looking after you?

Scary stuff and a reminder of how quickly lives can change (and end)

Were the cookies salvageable?

No, BK, the cookies weren't salvageable.  We could have used them too, we were hungry by the time we got to the stadium. And to add to my day, the place where I used to get my turkey wrap was closed. It was just inside the atrium. Does anyone know if they are there this year? It was the only place that had them. I don't remember who ran the concession, just that they had a few more "healthful" food choices.

I ended up getting a slice of well done cheese pizza. I just couldn't bring myself to pay $13.50 for the BBQ brisket sandwich.

But hey, it was quite an experience to NOT be part of a large crowd walking into the stadium!

I remember seeing this tweet from the Press Gazette before the game.  Was this you?

@PGPackersNews: #Packers traffic alert: Left lane of northbound I-41 closed at WIS 55 near Kaukauna after crash. Traffic being waved around.

Good to hear you are OK

Scary stuff indeed

You had to feel better about the game.  For all the games I have been to the weather yesterday was absolutely beautiful.   Went with my bro and had a blast.

Glad too that you and all are OK Quiet One!

It's great that you still could make the game too.  Sorry about the overdone pizza and I can't blame you for passing up that overpriced sammich either.

All I remember is that the accident happened right before exit 150. I looked it up and that is Hwy J. Wis 55 would have been the exit right before. It happened around 10:30 or so.

Ammo, I don't have to worry about any of the insurance. My son and his girlfriend have to work with them.

Yeah...the trooper said he would probably give everyone a citation because he didn't have time to deal with it.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts! Hug your loved ones!!!!

WOW, what an experience. Glad it all worked out and no one seriously injured. Hope all the bumps and bruises heal up fast and no further complications. Regardless of the game, glad you all made it out of that accident safe.

Let the Packers do the collisions on the field.

Really happy everyone is ok. I would've thought worse after seeing that vehicle. Time for some Aleve.
Cars are  replaceable. YOU are not.

First, I am glad everyone is ok and that you all felt well enough to go to the game.

Second, that vehicle is a mess.  If that is all I had to look at I would have wondered if anyone had survived.  When I tested air bags I had similiar expereinces as you, but my vehicle didn't look as bad.

Thanks for sharing QuietOne.

yikes.  glad you're all alive and well for the most part.  they make more cars, they don't make more yous.

after the snow globe playoff game against the seachickens years ago I had to immediately leave after the game to make a gig in Stevens Point - craziest ride of my life through that snowstorm, thank dog for FWD.

I'm glad you'll all be watching more Packer games!

Here is a back view. You can see how the back is reinforced because of the batteries. We originally were supposed to take my car. My car's trunk would have pushed up into the back seat. I don't know if because of that reinforcement the car was pushed more violently because it didn't have much "give."

Incredible that you still made the game.  Glad to hear everyone was all right.  Maybe the Packers should give you a gameball for sticking it out, after that and getting to the game.

Good to hear you're OK.

I will say that every time I come back to WI/IL, it is scary driving there, as everyone drives about a foot behind the person in front of them.  (not saying this caused it in this example, I'm just sayin)
