With the recent play of Bucky it appears that Gard should get the job (barring a late season collapse). I was in the belief that Barry should go after a big name to keep the perception that this is still an elite program but you can't argue with the transformation of the club after he took over. I will also add that if Gard turns out to be a 'Brad Soderberg' this Bucky athletic program has enough equity now to still get a big name coach in the future.
That being said, if this team misses the tourney, could we blame that on Bo? Early in the year, he was only playing about eight guys and major contributors now weren't seeing the floor. Also, reputable sources like Tom Oates have said he seemed disengaged from day one this year. Now, Bo could have coached this year in Bermuda shorts over Skype given what he done to this program but the team's play early in the year really put them in a hole. Flipping two of those bad early season losses would likely have them a shoe in for the tourney. Maybe it was his master plan to get Gard the job but hopefully it doesn't come back to bite them.
