College sports is going to be unrecognizable in about 5 years with the new NIL stuff. It's really the wild west at this point. Graham Mertz is already making decent money.

Can Chryst and Gard adapt (or do we really want them to adapt)?

The starting QB for Alabama is going to make over a million dollars this year.

Can Wisconsin continue to compete? Do you really want to compromise being an academic institution and try to compete in this new setting?

There is nothing like the salary cap in college sports in terms of the NIL stuff.

Want to make a football comparison? Ok…

Chryst is like Bo Ryan in the late 2000s early 2010s. Building a crescendo and getting the recruiting and now the top talent is coming in. Badger football has a very strong period coming up, like the mid-2010s were for Basketball.

Gary Anderson was the Greg Gard of football. Took a perennial winner and pissed all over them until they were unrecognizable to what made them successful.

Wisconsin guard Jonathan Davis has become the first Wisconsin player to truly speak on what has become a tumultuous last few months in the Wisconsin basketball program.

During an interview with WXOW Sports Anchor Declan Levy, the Badger guard had a few interesting things to say about the audio leak, his relationship with head coach Greg Gard and whether he ever considered transferring.

His answers make sense when you think back to the leaked audiotape and consider the thoughts of last year’s senior class. The players there expressed some problems they had with how Gard operated and said they don’t have much of a relationship, if any at all, with the coach.

In all honesty, those are still things that need to change, even with assistant coach Alando Tucker and most of the senior class gone from the program.

However, Davis did note that Gard has made a concerted effort to meet with players and incoming recruits and work on those relationshipsβ€”something the sophomore guard said the head coach has done a β€œmuch better job at.”

This is probably a sentiment we’ll hear as the season nears and gets underway, as it’ll undoubtedly be a question posed to every player and coach made available to the media.

This does not surprise me. All the finger pointing being done by Potrykus and all the UW Athletic Dept. sycophants seems awfully hollow.

They really wanted this to go away by making Tucker the devil. And whether he was responsible for the leaked tape, and was lobbying for Gard’s job, or whether he was honest in his denial, the aftermath remains the same- Gard has made a total fucking mess of the once successful UW Men’s Basketball Program.

Either way, the extension they gave Gard looks damn near criminally stupid. The guy needs to go. They need a professional coach back at the helm, not this friggin’ amateur.
