But we already knew that. Smiler

One of my nieces (same age as my daughter) is going through a difficult time with breast cancer. She's had radical surgery, just finished one round of chemo and starts another, with radiation to finish. (Hopefully!) She's a single mom and at this time is unable to work.

Her mother, my SIL, is a big Packers fan. She just retired and is devoting most of her time taking care of whatever needs to be done on behalf of my niece. My niece contacted the Packers and asked if there was some way they could thank her mom for her.

They sent my SIL a GBP bag, mug, signed picture of Aaron Rodgers and a letter. I don't know what the letter said, but my other niece said it brought my SIL to tears. I'll be seeing them later today so may update, unless I get too emotional to type it. Roll Eyes

QuietOne, several years ago the executive director of our state chiropractic association (a HUGE Packer fan, and one of best people I've ever known) got a diagnosis of terminal colon cancer. She chose to continue working as long as she could so she could mentor her replacement... just the kind of person she was.

Anyway, I sent a letter to the Packers, no one in particular, about her and asked if there was anything they might be able to do to give her some support.

I called her about 10 days later on association business, and when she picked up, she sounded almost giddy. She had just gotten off the phone with Bob Harlen, who had also sent her a hand-written letter.

She died about 8 weeks later.

And the Packers gave her something to make things a bit easier. Truly, a CLASSY organization.

Christine, we still miss you. But one of the last things she told me was that she'd have 50 yard line seats at Lambeau forever!
Ha! Thanks JAPF! I was in a hurry and can't even claim dyslexia...let's just say the first two were typed out of habit. The SIL didn't bring out the letter and she was pretty busy with the number of people at the gathering that I didn't want to bother her. The niece looks like she's holding up but it's wearing on her. Thank you all for the well wishes on her behalf.

Another example of why I and millions of others are proud to support this team.

The Waring sisters traveled from New York to attend their first Green Bay Packers home game on Oct. 11.

It was a way to honor their father, James Waring, a lifelong Packers fan from Queens who was killed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

James, 49, was the director of security for Cantor Fitzgerald and likely was somewhere between the 101st and 105th floor of the World Trade Center’s North Tower when the first hijacked plane flew into his building.

What was supposed to be a weekend trip to Green Bay and a football game for Jessica, Stephanie, Maria and Jamie turned out to be a lot more after members of the Packers’ organization heard about their story...
