If this was the game rebroadcast aired last night, it was the January 20, 2008 NFC Championship game. Plaxico Burress kicked Al Harris's butt all game long. Favre hit Donald Driver with that 90 yard TD bomb, in the second quarter and rookie Kicker, Mason Crosby tacked on the PAT for the Packers' first lead of the game. Temperature was -2 for most of the game with -20 windchills. Giants won the game, in OT, 23-20. I hate losing to the Giants. Stupid challenge by McCarthy, on a reception by Amani Toomer, who was covered by Charles Woodson, cost the Packers a time out. Manning completed some nice passes to his WRs. Favre had trouble getting the GB offense in gear. Ryan Grant had only 29 yards rushing, on 13 carries. Favre threw for 236 yards, had 2 TDs and 2 INTs. Manning threw for 251 yards. It was Favre's last game in GB. It was the beginning of his "I'm retiring- I still want to play" shenanigans where he went to the Jets and ultimately landed in Minnesota, where he threw a very memorable INT.

One will always wonder why TOG threw to the only guy who was well covered. Other guys were wide open, but TOG tried to force it to Driver. Just like in Minny Tog's last pass in Green bay was an INT!

14 years later this photo still infuriates me. The check down to the RB right in front of him might gain 25 yards given the Giants are in man coverage underneath with two deep safeties 30 yards downfield.

I don't think that GB team would have beat the undefeated Pat's, allowing them to an even more perfect season than Miami's 72.  Giants had a genie up their butts that offseason and Coughlin seemed to know how to beat them.

The Giants beat those undefeated Pats because a bunch of breaks happened. Asante Samuel drops a game clinching interception before the ridiculous 32 yard helmet catch from a guy whose production in 8 other career playoff games was 3 catches for 12 yards. Tom Brady just barely overthrew Randy Moss deep after that on a play that would have won the game.  That, and that pass rush was elite allowing them to drop 7 in coverage and still force the ball out fast (except in sub-zero temps for the NFC title game).

I agree that I don't think the Packers would have beat the Pats. Their pass rush wasn't as elite as it was in 2010, although Kampman and KGB were decent (but not young Raji and CM3).

That photo (I was at that game) is why some time later when Favre said he was retiring I just shrugged. One game too late if you ask me.

Maybe we hang on to our heroes for too long sometimes...

The one thing I'll never forget was the look on TOG's face during that game. It was so obvious he did NOT want to be there, and had succumbed to the weather.
All the years of hearing and seeing him being a "warrior" only to wilt into a giant pussy at the end was shocking, to say the least.
I had seen games before where he had given up and would throw ridiculous INTs, and that bullshit play vs Minn where he was laughing after throwing an illegal forward pass, but none of that compared to what I saw that night.
