You know, being up over 21 going into halftime does change offensive strategy. You tend to try to burn time, not score points...

the same is probably similar in 2011and 2014?

sorry, I am too lazy to look it up...

bottom line: this team usually does not need to score in the second half of most games. Just protect a lead.

Afterall, we are not the patriots or saints..

Yeah, that should be easy to do.  Hopefully it's in the game plan because without Shields, our 2ndary is ...ahhh,  far from stellar.

OBJ & Cruz are very good.....

2 players to keep an eye on.

Sterling Shepard & Paul Perkins.

Eli loves Shepard.

Our DB'S have their work cut out on Sunday Night.

McGinn scouts the Giants

G-men appear seriously hurting at DB:

For the second straight game it appears as if the Giants will be without three of their top five defensive backs. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (groin) and rookie Eli Apple (hamstring), the No. 2 and No. 3 cornerbacks, aren’t expected to play. FS Darian Thompson, who was having an outstanding rookie season, probably will miss a third game in a row with a sprained foot. In Game 3, Washington’s Kirk Cousins posted a passer rating of 106.4 in the Redskins’ 29-27 victory. On Monday night, Minnesota’s Sam Bradford had a rating of 101.9 in the Vikings’ 24-10 triumph.

Also:

The Packers worked out veteran tight end Rob Housler, a former third-round pick, plus rookie TE J.P. Holtz and LB Christian French. Packers are down to two healthy tight ends after Jared Cook's ankle injury.

With tight end Jared Cook (ankle) expected to miss some time, it appears the Packers are standing pat with just Richard Rodgers and Justin Perillo as their tight ends. "That's the plan as I stand here today," coach Mike McCarthy said.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy on preparing for Odell Beckhman Jr.: "We're focused on the video and what we feel each player's strengths are and how they're going to use them against us. It's an excellent receiver core."

McCarthy on facing McAdoo: Important game for us, but the personal part, I’m proud of what he’s done. This is an excellent football team.

McCarthy on Giants: I think you see a lot of carryover from Coach Couglin. Offense is different. Steve is back at defensive coordinator.

McCarthy on Beckham: You focus in on his strengths and how they’ll use him. We focus on our schemes.

McCarthy on Manning: He’s a great quarterback. He’s playing in a different offense. Thing I'm impressed he lines up every week and plays.

McCarthy on young CBs: Had a number of different guys play. Stay focused on yourself and how you’re going to utilize them.

McCarthy said the plan is to move forward with Richard Rodgers and Justin Perillo if starter Jared Cook is unable to play for a few weeks.

Translation: He carries out the play as called and doesn't question his coach.

One thing that surprised me was that the Vikes o-line got the better of the Giants d-line, I expected more of a pass rush.

Bradford got the ball out very quickly on most plays.

It's mildly surprising that there are slim pickin's for TEs.
I recall Backman and Henry were waived (injury settlements) with a knee and groin, respectively.
Anyone recall the severity of either?
Assuming either are available, did they suck or have promise? Backman had a year's experience, and would at least be serviceable I would think. And not that either of them could "save" us, but may be better than street FAs...
And what's the deal with Cajuste? Anybody recall him from preseason?

But they had very little penetration

Might need Janis! @DB with this WR crew coming in here

Of course OBJ has his lowest output ever vs. Minnesota, which means he goes off vs. Green Bay & Dom doesn't do anything to adjust.

Like vs. Kaepernick or Diggs or Marvin Jones or Julio Jones or Brad Hoover....

Who sees this coming a mile away? Is it just me??

FML....

The Vikings used safety help over the top with Rhodes chirping in OBJ's ear all night. It's not like this is some super secret master plan needed to help Randall.

Burnett will be back. That also helps.

Yes, I'm channeling my

This guy wants to play TE for the Packers only.  Maybe see if he has learned anything?

Per reports, Winslow worked out for the Packers West Coast scout (whom TT trusts a lot) in August and allegedly wasn't that impressed. His last good year was 2007.

The "do what we do" Packers are standing pat with Rodgers/Perillo per Rob D. today. That should shock, um, well no one. Ted rarely, if ever, picks up a vet during the regular season.

Just an observation.  Seems as time progresses the aspect of injuries and penalties has become more pivotal than straight up beating the other team on the field.  BFI seems to be trending down.

edit:  I would exclude the Dline.  They are whippin' some arse.

Mike McCarthy says Sam Shields is making some improvements in the process but will not play this week against the Giants.

McCarthy on Perillo: Can play all the different positions and then special teams. Very sharp, very detailed. Very athletic.

McCarthy on Starks: You can go through perimeter players all you want, starts with total plays. We need to have the ball more.

McCarthy on pass rush: Clearly a focus for us.

McCarthy on week after bye: Monday after bye is higher risk studies show. That’s why we went hour, 11 minutes. Today full padded practice.

Jr. is saying all the right things, and who wouldn't want to come to Green Bay and play with Rodgers? I'm sure it is much more enticing than any other team that has shown any interest at all.
Based on his past history, I hope he never comes within 100 miles of there again.

Jeebus, now Randall has a groin?
That young man doesn't need any limitation at all, obviously, to have his best chance vs OBJ.
I'm guessing we'll see a lot of the young guys playing again.

Very big college wide receiver who NFL clubs wanted to convert to TE.

Sounded great on paper until they tried it.

Francesa really laid into Macadoo today over Beckham. Would not be surprised if he never goes on his show again.
Macadoo pretty much had no comment. Gotta agree with Mike here, Beckham is a cancer that is not getting better.

What did Dom Capers see from his pass defense during the self-scout? "Too many big plays."

Dom Capers on Odell Beckham: "All you have to do is watch tape and Odell catches your eye. He's a rare guy."

Dom Capers discussing guys who demonstrate lots of emotion: "I've seen a lot of great players who play on the edge."

Darren Perry on Kentrell Brice: "I think he had about as good a camp as anybody we have on defense."
