Best news I've heard about the Bucks since Big Dog and Ray Allen left.

There is nobody else out there that has as much credibility. If Sloan would come and have some success, it'd be nice if he'd groom a young up&coming coach too.
Won't be easy and could fail miserably, but the guy has had success. Pretty sure Larry Sanders will be a supporter and we'd have a legitimate shot at a good defense.

+1

Some people on other Bucks boards want Shaw or Sampson.

God no... Sampson is a cheat/sleeze and Shaw hasnt done anything as a coach in the NBA except improve Lance Stephenson's jump shot.

By that barometer - we should be making Joe Wolf the coach because of what he did with Sanders.

Give me Sloan and let him groom a replacement. No more Swag twins... lets play some workman's basketball.

Build a team around Larry Sanders at your own demise.

I suppose You think DRose is sitting out for his health?

Yeah, I don't really give a crap about the NBA.
Jerry Sloan is a helluva coach. He usually gets the most from his players, which is more than we could ask for these days. Even at his age, I'd rather he take the reigns and then pass it on Ina few years, so long his health is good.

But don't stop there. Bring in some talent too. I believe a guy like Sloan could get everything out of Chris Paul. Offer the guy the moon. Then bring in another- Howard, Smith, whoever. A guy like Sloan may be able to get true All Star play out of Smith.

And hey, at least Bo Ryan wouldn't be the oldest coach in WI anymore...

Can't get sloan.. go get Bo.

NBA Players + Bo Ryan = Where amazing happens.... or as we call it. Culture Shock. It'd be akin to Rickie Weeks visiting a barber.

Then this is the year to scuttle the team, lose 70 games, and get the #1 overall. With Jabari Parker and Andrew Wiggins both eligible to jump to the NBA after their freshman years in '13-'14, they represent the salvation of this franchise.

MC, c'mon, man!

1) We know that having the worst record does not equate to having the top pick.

2) No 18 year old player can be identified as representing "the salvation of this franchise." Nor ought to be in any GM's architectural plans.

It is speculation of such a magnitude as worthy of dismissal.

How about the Bucks accept the harshness of building through the draft and we see what happens? Top pick in the lottery or no. Parker or Wiggins or someone else the "savior" or no.

The Bucks will continue to toil as an also-ran until they can acquire a transcendent player. This is the way of the NBA. If there is to be a future for the franchise, it must involve a trance dang player. Sure, you can build through the draft. But to truly contend, you have to have that one player, then build around them.

Scuttle the team, lose your ass, get a shot at these two prospects. You get to toil in NBA hell until you do... And this team needs a new arena. Only way to accomplish that is by getting a trascendant player.
I'd rather have him than Kelvin Sampson.

Drew was not that bad in ATL - low demeanor coach that stresses ballmovement and flow through their bigs.

He did pretty well with the players ATL had. He didnt **** the bed, he didnt go to the finals either. Of the coaches we interviewed, outside of Sloan, he was the best choice.

Now, hopefully these guys dont troll us and bring back the Swag twins.

Start over at the guard position and tank next season... 2014 lotto is stacked.
You know what this probably means? The Bucks will be making a play for Josh Smith. Not that I dislike Smith, because I think his best ball is still ahead of him under the right guidance, but its the cost that concerns me. It'll be a max deal.

Be let's try to rationalize for a second, even if it is fantasy: Josh Smith has the ability to play the 3. John Henson continues to develop as a 4. Larry Sanders continues to develop at the 5. Now just assuming they play like they want to win and develop, there's something there. Basketball is about tall guys who are better than smaller guys. Mismatches. That's a pretty athletic, long front line. Make them all watch video of Hakeem and Rasheed Wallace until they think they actall are Hakeem and Rasheed Wallace.

Big tall guys that defend. That's the dream anyway...
You know...with an established, solid front court, sounds compelling. Two guard should not be hard to eventually get and that leaves PG, albeit hugely important.

But, I seriously question Josh Smith from a mental standpoint. I don't think one can know what they are going to get.
So... The Bucks offer Ellis a 2 year deal and he has until the 20th to decide. Of the two, I certainly would rather have Ellis, and this seems to assure that Jennings is out.

So the big question is- is Ellis jet another undersize tweeter G, or does he actually have the ability to be Hammond's Chauncey Billups? Is Josh Smith on the horizon?
There might be a silver lining with Ellis. I really don't think he's the long term answer and it saves them some money in the near future.

I read something recently that Devin Harris wouldn't mind coming to Milwaukee and that might make some sense. He's not a max contract type guy and he's a good transition piece.
Would rather have Harris than Jennings. He would be better defensively than either of them. Been a little banged up the last coupe years, but winning has a healing effect. He's been on some really bad teams...

Guess he won't heal then if he signs with the Bucks.

good point, I think they got that player

wanted to revisit the thoughts here around the state of the franchise during the 2013 draft. interesting to see the rebuilding and growth of a franchise around a special player. Somethat you can do in basketball that you cant really do inthe NFL or MLB
