Got a couple free tickets for the game from a Dallas season ticket holder.  Flying in Saturday afternoon, and flying back out Monday morning.

First, any must see things at or around the stadium while we are close?

And, who has been to this stadium?  How are visiting fans treated?  Should we be expecting a Oakland or Candlestick type experience (visiting fans treated like crap, advised not to wear visiting team colors, don't cheer your team, etc.)?  Or is it generally okay here if you can take a little ribbing and back and forth low key trash talk?

I am going with the girlfriend, so would prefer to just avoid the possibility of trouble.  We are in our early 50's, so not so old that we wouldn't be the target of real idiots if they decided to get completely obnoxious or aggressive, especially if it were toward's the GF, because I wouldn't react very well to that.

Will be my first regular season Packer game.  Have been to a couple pre-season games, but a few years ago sold tickets the GF got me for my birthday for a Packer regular season game at Candlestick after we learned how bad it had gotten up there for visiting fans.  Were it just a guys trip, hell with it, I wouldn't care.  But on this one I've got the W to think about.

I love Texas, the hill country, the Gulf Coast, the western deserts and mountains and a drive down the Rio Grande is beauteous and  culturally fun.

No mention of Dallas?

Not much to really like about Dallas. If you do go to the TX State Fair, be sure to get the deep fried stick of butter.

My two favorite parts of the state is the Big Bend / Davis Mountains area and then Palo Duro Canyon.

I saw the Packers lose to Dallas at their old stadium...the game where TOG was injured and Rodgers came in and played quite well.

The fans were mostly awful, especially after the game when they were all drunk.

"Lay low" is good advice, especially if you're there with your gf.

I saw the Packers beat the Texans in Houston a few years earlier. There was much drinking and a fair amount of ribbing, but it was mostly good natured and I never felt threatened by any Texans fans.

Got back last night from TX.

Man, that was a lot of fun!  And a lot of Packers fans around.  From the time we hit the airport at LAX to fly out, until when we arrived Saturday night and went out to eat, I was amazed at the number of Packer fans out and about who had traveled in for the game.  Couldn't go anywhere without seeing multiple Packers jerseys.

Was quite funny when the cowboys would make a play, and the guy in front of us would jump up and turn around looking for someone....anyone to hi five, he was surrounded by green and gold!

Loud.  Nuts as the Pack moved down the field on the last drive, and when the Pack scored with 11 seconds left.

May not be a popular opinion here, but can't say enough about the experience at Jerry world.  Pretty kick azz stadium (for a dome anyway).   Bands playing inside and out.  Easy access to concessions for food and drink.   Stayed in seat during half time to avoid the crowds, but the other times we went up we got our food and drink, and were back in our seats in short order and don't think we missed hardly a play.

Only azzhole we saw during our entire stay was some drunk douche who inexplicably started going off on a Packer fan who was seated next to the isle just watching the game just in front of us.  Minding his own business, and some dude just walking up the stairs decided to talk crap and take his frustrations out on the Packer fan, challenging him to a fight.  Some cowboys fans jumped up and took care of him quickly, and ushered him away, apologizing to the Packer fan.

After the game we went outside to the Miller Lite bar, and hung out for a couple hours it seemed listening to the band play, shooting the crap with fellow Packer fans and cowboy fans alike.

There was some pretty harmless smack talk before, during and after the game, but pretty tame stuff.  Everyone was pretty damn behaved and polite.  A welcome contrast from the type of cowboy fans we often encounter in our area in SoCal.

But man, there were some ticked off cowboys fans around!  They want Garrett's head on a plate!

Would do it again in a heartbeat.  Great time.  Especially since the Packers put yet another heartbreaking loss on the cowboys!  Man this feels good after all the hurt they put on us in the 90's!  They wanted "revenge" so much for the Bryant non-catch and last year's divisional round loss at the hands of ARod and the Packers, but it was not to be.

Got some brats going on the grille, and will be sitting down to watch the game on the tube here in about 10 minutes!

hey...thanks for sharing your experience, RWS!

When I went to Dallas for the 1995 Championship game, I had a very good experience, too.  Yeah, sure, there were a few drunk Cowboy fans, but overall, the experience at the old Cowboy Stadium was terrific!

Also, the people that I had met in Dallas were very friendly and welcoming around the city (I was wearing my Packer gear while being the tourist, too).   I can't say enough good things about the hospitality.

My only beef was that dang hole in the roof.  The late afternoon sun came through the hole and was in my eyes most of the first half (I was in the upper deck of the east endzone).  The only thing that would've made the trip better was Favre hitting an open Chumura instead of trying to force the ball deep to Ingram....where he was intercepted late in the 4th Quarter. (well, that and the refs blowing the call on the fumble recovery returned for a TD by Strickland on the first play of the game.).
