That would be awesome if he could play again. I've already sort of written him off.
If it's true, the Packers got a huge boost on defense.

then safety IMO were the priorities this offseason. If Collins can come back, you not only fill that position but do it with a Pro Bowler. Not holding my breath since the meeting with the doc is in March but it sure sounds promising.

Off topic, same issue. I heard 2 Dr's officially cleared Peyton Manning to resume his career today.
This is potentially great news for Collins. I'll hold off celebrating until the Doc gives him full clearance. Having him back would allow TT to focus on the pass rush this off season.

Some more information from Profootball talk on Manning. Apparently the issue now is not if he can play, but how well can he play. Nerves are not yet completely regenerated, they may never regenerate enough for Manning to return to his old form.

This would be INCREDIBLE news for our secondary, but I'm not getting my hopes up yet...
Manning v. Collins are two different beasts. Manning gets hit so seldom, he's not at huge risk. Collins is doing the hitting on many, many plays. I can't imagine a doc signing off on his playing again. Even if he does, imagine the hike in insurance rates...

Manning is also on his 3rd or 4th surgery on the neck, no? I would too if my neck had to hold that melon up.

God, if this is true, I'll be overjoyed. Like many of you, I'm taking a wait and see attitude. But if #36 can come back, my God, what that would do for the defense.
Hmmm I'd written off both players. Love to see Collins back if he can still bring it.
Don't see him ever receiving the medical clearance.
From what I recall, we've only ever heard from Collins (and his agent) about prognosis, and that has always been positive with regards to the success of the surgery and his potential return. At this point, I don't think we have heard enough to say one way or the other if he'll play again.
