From what I recall, we've only ever heard from Collins (and his agent) about prognosis, and that has always been positive with regards to the success of the surgery and his potential return. At this point, I don't think we have heard enough to say one way or the other if he'll play again.

quote:

Green Bay DB Nick Collins, who suffered a season-ending neck injury in Week 2, told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that a meeting with his doctor in March will dictate whether he continues to play. "If the doctor says I can go back, I'm definitely going to go back," Collins said Monday. "If he says to stop, I'm definitely stopping."

quote:

β€œI want to be able to make my decision before the draft so this organization can make a decision on who they can bring in and who they want to draft,” Collins said.

Collins last was evaluated in December and the doctor said he was on schedule. Sunday’s loss to the Giants and a secondary that struggled all season will not impact his decision.

β€œThe decision is all based upon me,” Collins said. β€œI know my team wants me out there with them. If the doctors want me to be out there and the good Lord wants me to be out there, I’ll be out there.

β€œAt the end of the day I’ve got to do what’s right for my family and my kids. I want to be there for them once they leave to go off to college. I want to be there supporting them.”

Adam Schefter reports that "it will take about six months to determine whether [Collins] will be able to resume his NFL career." Collins' agent, Alan Herman, told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that the surgery will "give him a chance" and Collins "would like the possibility of playing again."
