In honor of Tolzien, let's recap the top-three moments of his NFL career:

1. Sept. 1, 2011. As a member of the Chargers, Tolzien completes16 of 23 passes for 226 yards and a touchdown against the 49ers' third- and fourth-string defenses in a preseason game. After the game, the Chargers cut Tolzien and the 49ers pick him up. Tolzien makes the 49ers' final roster as an undrafted free agent.

2. Dec. 16, 2012. The 49ers activate Tolzien for their Week 15 Sunday night game in New England, the third and final time Tolzien is active for an NFL game. He doesn't play, but he is the only player who warms up in shorts and a T-shirt during the freezing rain. Respect.

3. Aug. 10, 2012. Tolzien completes 10 of 13 passes for 84 yards against the Vikings' backup defense in a preseason game. After the game, Donte Whitner calls Tolzien “Baby Drew Brees.”

"Rocket Fuel malt liquor. Damn!"

Green Bay — The Green Bay Packers like practice squad quarterback Scott Tolzien so much that they were willing to jack up his salary to the second-year veteran minimum in order to keep him from signing with another team.

The Packers increased Tolzien's salary from $6,000 per week to a base salary of $544,999, according to figures listed on the NFL Players Association website. The upgrade appears to have been made late last week.

Because NFL base salaries are paid over a 17-week schedule, Tolzien will receive $32,058 per week for the remaining nine weeks of the season. If the Packers keep him on the practice squad the rest of the season, he will receive $288,529 total.

He has made $48,000 during the first eight weeks of the season.

The team's decision to pay Tolzien what he would be making were he signed to another team's 53-man roster is not unprecedented.

As a Badger, Levy was always raved about, but always seemed to be a bit off from max potential.  He is playing excellent in the NFL, but I remember a few times from him when it was obvious he was still learning.  Good player.

I like ours better.  But I'd still take him!

I know a certain former Iowa Hawkeye that could be had for a song from the Jaguars and would instantly elevate the play of those around him.

He even wears # 12.  Coincidence?  Bob McGinn doesn't think so. Jump on the Ricky Stanzi train to glory, my friends.

Hmmm?

Interesting that have yet to promote PS quarterback Scott Tolzien to 53. McCarthy says "working through it." Wonder what holdup is.

Two thoughts: 1) Flynn cleared waivers. 2) If elevate Tolzien, then want to cut/put back on PS, he's subject to waivers and likely claimed.

They maybe want to bring Flynn in to check him out before committing to Tolzien. He likely would get claimed if exposed to waivers.
