Jim Leonhard can’t recruit. He’s a big reason the Chryst teams fell apart his last two years.

Leopold has won everywhere he’s been.

It's not clear that Fickell can at Madison either.

At least Leonhard or Leopold can take them back to what Wisconsin football should be. None of this air raid shit and getting away from being a power running team (like with Gary Andersen as well). At least Gary Andersen beat the mid-tier Big 10 teams.

They get frustated because they can't beat teams like Ohio State, so they try to change the culture and end up losing to teams like Iowa, Nebraska, and Minnesota (which basically try to model the Alvarez/Bielema Wisconsin teams).

It’s been well documented that Chryst and his staff basically ignored recruiting toward the end of his run.  It’s a big reason why he ended up getting fired.

Leonhard didn’t exactly light the world on fire as an interim HC and wasn’t a dynamic recruiter.

Fickell has shown he can recruit pretty well but is pretty much limited or Incapable of doing just about everything else.

I honestly had forgotten the game was on today and I am damn glad I didn't see it because I cannot stand losing to that asshat Fleck.

As for the UW program I don't think they will let Fickell go after two years.  I think they will have to give him one more year to see if he can get some life into this program.

What is maddening about UW football is they play PSU really tough, get blown off the field by Iowa, came damn close to beating Oregon, but them turn around and get their doors blown off by a pretty average Nebraska team.

It will be interesting what next year brings when Fickell's recruits starting really hitting the  field  and  hopefully they can find someone who can coach offense and consistent defense.

If you watched the Fickell postgame press conference he was very emotional and animated.   He stopped short of blaming the players but basically said they need to buy into what he’s trying to do or they can go elsewhere.  He also said at any sign of adversity and this team folded under the pressure.

While he certainly doesn’t deserve to stay I agree that he will likely get another year or two.  But I think he needs to bring in some guys that aren’t afraid to challenge him or the status quo because up to this point literally nothing has worked.   The pass happy shit won’t work unless you get a real QB and real receivers.  The 3-3-5 defense might work in the AAC but teams will run all over you in the Big Ten.

I also think he also has to be willing to sit guys that don’t deliver on the field or make too many mistakes.  That means you Locke, Pauling, Vakos.  If this team can just cut in half the drops and turnovers and missed FGs they beat Oregon and probably USC and maybe Penn State.

From what I read on Buckyville Board, it is a $33 million dollar buyout for Fickell if fired now.

I just think that number is so high he gets at least 1 or 2 more years.  Maybe there’s a Bill Gates like donor out there that 33 million is nothing to, but that just sounds like such a big number that even the billionaires would scoff at paying it.

Better get ready because 2025 could be historically bad.  Games at Alabama, at Oregon, at Indiana, at Michigan, at Minnesota.  Home games against Illinois and Iowa and Ohio State and Washington and Maryland.

This version of the Badgers would likely not win a conference game next season.  There are no Northwesten’s or Purdue’s on the schedule.
