#Packers TE Jimmy Graham did suffer a broken thumb last night, sources say, and the team is trying to determine how much time he'll miss.

It seems like the worst digit to break.
Ironically it happened blocking
Maybe he wouldn't have broke it if he didn't play with his helmet pulled over his eyes.
We spend a gazillion dollars on 3 veteran TEs and probably the most impressive play of the year by a TE came from the 4th string rookie FA TE last night.

At least all 4 of them are better than RichRod.
Hmm not sure about that. ^^
When I read this:
"...the team is trying to determine how much time he'll miss."
I heard:
the team is trying to determine how much he'll be missed.
Ouch
Tonyan only got three offensive snaps last night. Understand he's a rookie and not a particularly effective blocker but he's easily the most dynamic TE on the roster in terms of stretching the field and he needs to be playing more. Perhaps Graham's injury will create more opportunities.
You think MM will be smart enough to notice that?
What Fedya said.
I'm not sure using one's powers of invisibility should necessarily equate to more playing time.
And MM doesn't seem interested in doing much creatively with TE's.
Green Bay, where TE's go to die.
They were dead before Green Bay signed them.
But Cook was great!
GB hasn’t had an idea of how to use a TE for over a decade.
I had higher hopes for Graham, even if he lost a step (cause he's huge with giant tracks of hands).
I agree though, GB doesn't scheme for TE right.
I'd rather have him available than not, of course, but I don't think his production will be sorely missed. Especially if run blocking becomes more of a priority.
They were running 2 TE sets with basically a 3-man rotation; I don't know why we couldn't do the same adding Tonyan to the mix.
With this season pretty much in the Dumpster, it’s time to play Tonyan. We know what Graham can do and Lewis, let’s see the kid so the next coach has some film on him.
With this season pretty much in the Dumpster, it’s time to play Tonyan Callahan.
How do you think it will work out?
Well, if we played Callahan, we might have a pretty good chance of winning!
When I saw Graham blocking the defender by pushing him in the face mask, I wondered why is he doing that? Once upon a time, in the Hump Dome, Emmitt Smith was running wild for the Cowboys against the vikings. Smith was going to stiff arm his viking defender to get more yardage, and possibly a score. One of Smith's fingers got caught in the viking defender's face mask and it broke. Smith was done for the day, after being unstoppable in the run game, and I believe, the vikings went on to win that game. Gotta think that is how Graham broke his thumb.

FTFY.
#Packers coach Mike McCarthy says tight end @TheJimmyGraham intends to try to play with a broken thumb. Will test out various splints during the week before Sunday night's game at Minnesota. DT Mike Daniels (foot) will be out a couple weeks.

I'm sure he can be just as ineffective with a broken thumb as he's been with two good ones.
I don't know, it might be hard to match those 13 yards he had last week
A couple of runs from Jones will get those yards.

OK, that's probably on the first drive of the game. Do we see Jones again after that?
BTW, it could take Dalvin Cook 12 carries to get those 13 yards!
Heck no, we don't see Jones again! Why mess with success when we can turn it into failure?
And, I think it will take Cook until next year before he returns to what he was -- but his Oline is a never-has-been and with those guys, a never-will-be.
I'll give Jimmy Graham this much, he's not Martellus Bennett. He would have sat out the game with a broken fingernail - unless that big mean Dr McKenzie forced him to play.
I'd play Equanimeous St. Brown at tight end before putting Jimmy Graham back into the lineup for another snap.

Wanna talk about a player that has done nothing this season and looks like absolute crap on a down-to-down basis.
Not picking on Graham necessarily, but this is what I'd like to see Philbin change for the rest of this year.
Let's see what Tonyan can do.
Let's see what Kumerow can do. Darryl Johnston praised his route running.
And sit Spriggs' ass so far down the bench, he can't see light. Play Light, bring Pankey or deBeer up from the PS, do something.....
End the RB by committee crap.
In that case why play A.Jones more if we already know what we have in him?
J. Moore also needs to see significant playing time. See if he can ball under the lights better than at practice.
Can’t expect to see a huge difference in the offense over the last 4 games. The offense is pretty much the offense now.
Graham is being torn to shreds for a lot of the routes he didn’t try very hard to run vs Arizona. He wasn’t the only reciever going through the motions. He just stood out the most. To be fair. The routes sucked to begin with.
I’m giving serious thoughts of adding WR coach David Raih to the coaches on the staff that should be cut loose today. This coaching staff simply isnt very good.
I'd like to see Jones have an 1K yard season. No particular reason other than personal pride (for him). And a bright spot in an otherwise dismal season. No idea if he has any incentives for reaching that goal.
He's at 642 now, so he would have to average 90 yds/game.
Atlanta is even worse than us vs the rush, so this would be a good week to get started....

But do we really know? We think we know. Everyone thinks we know but we won't know until we know.
And yes, more Moore.
