nice no BS article on our hero.

Curious as to why write this now.
Jennings hasn't lived up to that salary which was paying him to be amongst the elite number #1 receivers. Last season, he wasn't getting much separation either and he's morphed into a possession WR that can't get separation or frankly resembles anything like a legit #1.
Ya, he chose the money. Ya, the Vikings overpaid for him. But that's hardly new news now. That was apparent the moment he got there. Jennings is another in a long line of examples of non-signings Ted never made that ended up being the right decision. There was the rumor about the supposed offer GB made to him but IIRC that was never proven. Wonder if we'll ever find out what (assuming it's true) GB did actually offer..
You have to feel for Jennings. If the QB is too good the spotlight doesn't find its way to Jennings, but if the QB isn't as good the football doesn't find its way to Jennings. There must be a mediocre QB out there who can make Jennings look better than himself.
Greg was a really, really, really good WR for GB. Special kind of talent. Supreme route runner.
Not sure when he and GB became bad for each other exactly. Maybe he grew tired of AR getting all the press. Maybe he didn't like the emergence of Cobb and Jordy.
The "At the end of the day I understand it's a business and I honestly believe this is my last year in GB" comments never took much time off during the 2012 season. His sisters tweet.
I do believe he'd made up his mind he was going elsewhere long before FA started.
I thought he chose poorly but now that some time has passed and we have the benefit of burned bridge after burned bridge GJ quote it's best things went the way they did. I think he'd have been an irrepressible prick behind the scenes flashing a positive smile for the masses.
Love the fan comments in the article. The majority say Souhan is pissing sour grapes and any WR would take the $$$ vs staying in a system offense. Missing the bigger point that a decent WR chose a monumentally disfunctional team for a little extra scratch. Viking fans refuse to accept what a clown show that operation is.
One Randall Cobb likely sealed the deal in TT's mind to move on as well. While Jennings was nursing his abdominal strain then turned sports hernia, Cobb moved to his slot position and low and behold racked up nearly 1000 yards and 8 TDS in 2012.
Younger, healthy, and oh ya..much cheaper. I think that probably pissed off Jennings as well. In his mind, he was an elite #1 WR who he thought should command 10-12 mil a season per his agent. Then comes this young kid, takes over his role, and mimics his production.
Bitter party of 1 ...table is waiting.
"I would say this: There's been times throughout my career there when defensively we put a piss-poor product on the field, and we've been in games and won ballgames solely on the arm of Aaron Rodgers and the legs of Aaron Rodgers and what he's been able to do throwing a ball to a Greg, a Donald, a Jermichael"
"A couple years ago, we were 15-1, and if we have any other quarterback other than Aaron Rodgers, we're 7-9"
"Aaron's job is a tough job. You've got a stud wide receiver in Greg Jennings -- and make no mistake, Greg is a great wide receiver -- but you have to keep him happy. You have Donald Driver, you have to keep him happy. You have Jermichael, you have to keep him happy. You have running backs on the team, and you're trying to find where they can get carries and keep them happy. You have an offensive line, they don't just want to pass set all the time; they want to run downhill and run block, and you have to keep them happy. You have to keep James Jones, who wants to be on the field, you have to keep him happy. And we haven't even talked about a Jordy Nelson, or a young Randall Cobb And who does all that fall on? It falls on the quarterback. And don't get me started on the Super Bowl run, I mean, how brilliant was that guy during that run? There was no question about his leadership then."
Charles Woodson. August 19 2013 after being released by Green Bay and asked for his thoughts on Greg Jennings "that 12 guy" comments.
If anyone had reason to put matches to the bridge it would be Charles who beat the ever living **** out of himself for Green Bay. He spoke like a football player.
I don't usually watch the "sounds of the NFL" type shows, but the other day, they had one on about Aaron Rodgers. I had it on in the background, not really listening, until I realized Woodson was talking to AR on the sidelines.
They're laughing and joking around, and CW goes to AR, "I'm thinking Super Bowl, and you're going to get me there." They are still laughing and joking, but you start to realize Woodson is serious. He repeats it: "I want a Super Bowl, and I need you to get me there. You have to do it. You."
It was cool.
There was a reason Woodson gave all the speeches during that run. He was always right. And he knew there's no way he gets that ring without #12.
A bit of an incomplete story on Greg Jennings to Minnesota. He only chose more money after he rolled the dice and came up empty by refusing GB's extension offer of 10-11 million per year. He's just fortunate that the Viking were willing to overpay for his services.
Greg counts for $7 million against the cap this year. $11 million next year. That's when he'll be cut. Bad QBs are a high priced FA WR worst possible friend. Especially with two 1st round QB picks in the past 4 years.
And let's not forget Minny overpaid Greg with no plan at QB evidenced with paying Josh Freeman $3 million for one year to **** the bed for one game.
Its ts hard to keep track of how ****ed up Speilman is banking on Teddy Bridewater.
It's sad he turned out to be such a queen. On a positive note, JJ is playing well in Oakland. He was always a class act on and off the field.
Jordy Nelson and Donald Driver are too classy to tell the Minnesota fans how ****ing wrong they are.quote:The majority say Souhan is pissing sour grapes and any WR would take the $$$ vs staying in a system offense.
From the article:
"Jennings made his name as a good possession receiver..."
BS. Jennings was a fantastic deep threat in GB. I would never have thought of him as a "possession receiver".
I believe it will cost him money in the long run, this decision. At Green Bay he would have seen out the contract. When Minny cut him next year, his earnings will fall flat.
Oh Gerg, all you had to do was not be a dick on your way to Minny. Nobody would've cared otherwise.
Can't blame a guy for taking the cash, the career arc is so short, that knee could blow out tomorrow.
He deserves to eat it for his comments on the way out, but he was really fun to watch as a Packer.

"you can't throw yourself the ball, you can’t do things yourself.”
Souhan is not only reminding us about Jennings poor choice, that his skills aren't so special without Favre and Rodgers, but that the karma of saying stupid **** takes you to a whole other level. He's made several stupid comments, and now , this comment Thursday night deserves some backlash. It's about as low as you can get as a teammate.
Favre did it first
I was trying to think of a good caption for these images from Thursday night.
How about -
