It was already illegal to lead with the helmet so why make another rule isolating the "crown"?

Run with head up. See what's hitting you. Tackle with head up. See what you are hitting.

@dkaplanSBJ
Talked 2 Texans owner Bob McNair on crown of helmet rule. Says game should be played as when he grew up and was taught 2 "Kiss the numbers."
either learn to play with your head up

or

stop suing the NFL.

@adbrandt: Saints bounty discipline, new helmet rule, fines/suspensions all part of new NFL environment. Concussion litigation will do that.

Another way to manipulate games. More selective parenting by the NFLFU.

I also heard the "tuck rule" is going away ? Without the tuck rule and spygate Belicheat isn't such a genius.

The Raiders won that game !!!
Eric Dickerson has criticized the new helmet rule.

Eric Dickerson is suing the NFL for not disclosing information about the dangers of concussions he suffered from hitting people with the top of his head.

this is what i'm talking about. ya can't do this.

I remember the rap on his was that he ran too upright. I never once saw him lower his head for a few extra yards.
And ironically, many a team avoided "upright/straight-line" running backs for fear if they run too upright they'd be hurt and have shorter shelf lives then RB's already do.

If this new rule sticks, I suspect the opposite will now happen.
You knew this rule would come about sooner or later. Is the stiff arm still legal? If it is, that's going to the wayside soon enough too.

Wait until you can't touch the quarterback at all... That will go over well.

the stiffarm will never go away. it is legalized facemasking by an offensive player.
so often i see a RB "stiffarm" a would be tackler... but what they are really doing is grasping and dragging on the facemask of the defensive player.

the stiffarm will NEVER go away..........

The rule is a RB cannot lower his head (use the crown of the helmet) in the open filed.
Between the tackles they can still do it.
To me the rule make since mow an offensive player cannot spear a defensive player when running at full speed.

Not only that, but it gives moron refs more influence/opportunities to make bad calls in the game.
