So far
What position is he going to play? Heβs like 6β2β and maybe 225 pounds. He needs to add at least 15-20 pounds to be an effective OLB or rush end in the pros.
I know heβs all butt hurt about JL not being named head coach but this is a dumb move. You need to get a lot bigger and stronger.
Johnny Davis must be giving him advice.
Is he afraid of the new coach?
I'd take him in Green and Gold. He is just like Leonard, they just make plays.
Iβm not sure if heβs afraid of Fickell or not but he made a lot of public comments critical of the Chryst dismissal and Leonhard not being named or considered head coach. Not sure why you would do that but whatever.
When you look at Fickellβs track record itβs hard to argue he wasnβt the right choice.
As for him declaring for the draft, yes heβs been impactful but I really worry if heβs got enough strength to do it at the next level. Heβs not a big guy at all and even some of the better (smaller) rush ends over the last 20 years are in the 240-250+ range. If he plays OLB heβs got even more development IMO.
Not that anyone cares but when T J W declared he was about 6β3β 245 and played a lot more physical. Herbig reminds me of a poor manβs Jared Allen but even Allen was a bigger dude. Allen was probably 6β5β 250+ when he was drafted.
Herbig would have been better coming back or transferring because he needs another year of building strength and size. He will get abused at 6β2β 220 and I donβt think heβs even 6β2β
Sounds like a typical "Draft and Develop" candidate for the Packers.
Good luck to himβ¦.he was a great Badger
He's 10 pounds lighter than Andrew Van Ginkel, for another Badger comparison. Guessing he can put on 10 pounds between now and the draft.
Van Ginkelβs draft bio states 6β3β 241. Itβll be interesting to see if Herbig is able to bulk up pte-draft because right now heβs not big enough. Heβs listed at 225. You put him next to Braelon Allen and he looks like a JV player.
