Incredibly sad. One report said he actually kept playing after the hit in the game. I hope they find some kind of condition caused the death and not a hit in the game. I cannot imagine the depth of sadness for the family. He is the QB of the HS team, you are proud as can be as a parent, and he dies from possibly something in the game. Truly sad

I remember when I was younger watching a kid right in front of  me keep begging the coach to put him in a basketball game. The kid was put in, ran up the court one time, turned around ran to half court, looked over at the bench and dropped dead. The kid had an unknown heart problem. It affected our team that was to play afterwards so much we cancelled our game. That scene bothered me for years. Now I watch my grandkids play football and baseball and pray they don't get hurt while always remembering stories like these.

School were I was had a similar incident in BB, with a different ending. Kid ran down the court and fell over dead with an unknown heart condition. I don't know who, but someone who was on the ball ran to get an automatic defib machine and they brought him back. Shook everyone up, kid was fine in about two weeks but could never play again. It was a good requirement to have those defib machines near the gym and prominently displayed. Without it, the kid would have been a goner.
