The Chiefs and the Lions won't be in the Superbowl.

Thoughts?

If the Lions come up short, it will almost certainly be because of injury. Depth is one thing. Utter and total depletion is another.

They are hemorrhaging injuries on defense. And YES, playing dirty is also Karma saying fu** around and find out.

Right now, I think the only team who has a defense consistently good enough to take them to the Owl are the Eagles. JMHO.

The Loins may have had, but the injuries to their defensive players have them in a nosedive.
The Vikes have a fair-to-good defense, but they can be very inconsistent. Tough one week, porous the next.
The Commodes are similar to the Vikes, but they are even more inconsistent.

None of the NFCS or NFCW teams that can still make it to the playoffs have a defense I'd be scared of.

I think every team in the AFC that are currently eligible for the playoffs have very suspect defenses. The Chefs, the Bills, the Ravens, and the Steelers are all the same to me.
It's more like they have offenses that can make up for some (or all?) of the deficiencies of their respective defenses. Any of them may have moments, or games, where they play well and look like world-beaters, only to revert back to ineptness for similar time periods.

Between the two teams you mentioned, I'd say KC has the better chance of making the Owl because the AFC is what it is.

KC has not scored 30 points in a single this season and is 12-1.

KC's Defense is tied for 4th in the NFL with MInnesota in giving up just 18.5 points per game.

Patrick Mahomes is a first ballot hall of fame QB, but KC won last year's Super Bowl and is in contention for another one this year principally due to the play of its overshadowed defense.

I saw a tweet yesterday that sums up the Lions to me.

Dan Campbell is the reason the Lions are good, and he is also the reason they won't win it all.

I think the Lions are just going to run out of defensive players and you can score a ton of points, but you also have to be playing good defense in the NFL to win it all.  Which is why I would never count out the Chiefs because people tend to overlook their defense.

To me in the NFC right now is the Eagles.  They are solid at OL and DL, and they play really good defense. And they truly commit to running the ball.

The AFC? I really think this is Buffalo's year but honestly, I wouldn't be the least bit shocked if Pittsburgh is the one that shocks everyone and wins that conference.

I've got this feeling that Tampa may surprise a lot of people in the NFC playoffs. Phillie will be tough to beat, as well, and the Packers are a team no one wants play. I see Buffalo winning the AFCCG. Going to get real interesting, in the next month.

KC's D has been carrying them all season, keeping it close enough for Mahomes to win a lot of games by 1 score.  And I wouldn't bet against Spagnuolo and their D in the playoffs.  Mahomes is hobbled right now so we'll see if it restricts his mobility and effectiveness in Jan.  Could be the crease BUF needs to get past them.

Agreed on Kansas City.  They’ve had a dominant defense all season and defense always travels well in the playoffs.

Detroit is super banged up and I don’t trust Goff in less than ideal conditions.  I also don’t trust the meathead head coach in key moments in big games.  That onsides kick was purely idiotic and it bit them in the ass.

The result of the onsides kick was obviously bad, but I don't mind the call. Detroit is missing their 4-5 best players on defense and they weren't offering any resistance to the Bills offense at all. Detroit now has given up 72 points in the last 3 halves to Green Bay and Buffalo.

If nothing else, giving them Bills a short field (obviously not basically giving up a kick return TD) probably increases the number of possessions your offense gets.

Considering all their losses on D, I would really like to see Campbell just flat out deactivate their P for their next game.  If you're going to run through the wall with your hair on fire you might as well run as fast as you can.

I said to @PackLandVA - the onsides kick decision was light years better than the 4th down call vs. Green Bay. It's funny that the "better" decision bit him in the ass.

That's what we call karma.

I think both decisions sucked 😆 and we're going to see more of that in the future if he continues "going for it"

And I said to @Boris - going for the fourth down at the end of the game against the Packers was the correct call by Boris' own standards. Two of the three outcomes ( Link to reply ) for Meathead and company would've been bad (Love gets ball, Packers win), so it was the right call. Right?

True

Any cabin air filter  experts out there with suggestions?

Packers win out.

Detroit and Minnesota lose in weeks 16 and 17.

The week 18 game between Detoilet and Minnesoda ends in a tie.

Packers win the division at 13-4; Lions and Vikes are both 12-4-1.
