Wood should be back this week and Capers has a nice little problem on his hands with the emergence of Heyward. Before he went down he was play S in the base and Slot Corner in the nickle. With how much nickle the Packers play, he wasn't seeing a lot of action at S.

So no we have Heyward playing at a pro-bowl level in the slot and Capers needs to decide if Wood brings more value to that position than he does in replacing Jennings / McMillan full time.

I'm of the opinion that Wood is better against the run, not that Heyward has been bad, and significantly better at rushing the passer. In Heyward's favor is his cover skills. The kid has been absolutely phenomenal in blanketing receivers and even picking off more than his share when targeted. Woodson has the savy, but he also has lost a step and resorts to grabbing and holding way too much. Those penalties are brutal when they happen on 3rd down. Has Heyward had a PI or hold this year?

Long story short, I think you stick with the kid in the slot and play Wood at S full time.

Actually, a great question, I was asking myself.
Woodson will help immensely if they have to play Nickel on first down due to lack of DL depth.

If Mathews is back also (and either CJ or MN) then I think Capers will really be dialing it up this week for the Bears. Cutler can't be too healthy or confident. If the Bears can't get a running game going (and they have struggled with that line) I see them bringing Woodson a ton and making the Bears account for him and Mathews. Whether this is from the safety or slot is a good question. How much do they go man with TW on Marshall. I know he did great against Johnson, but Marshall is a beast also and Cutler loves to throw it up for grabs with him. I think that is the difference, Stafford didn't do that as much. Jeffry is also a very big and good receiver and seems to be a better match for Hayward, with Shields matching up with up with Hester's speed better.

I can see Capers going straight man a couple of times and bringing the house. (no pun intended).

Also, the Bears TEs are pedestrian at best and shouldn't pose a problem, The biggest issue IMO is we don't have LBs that seem to be able to cover a guy loike Forte out of the backfield.
