I never thought NFL officiating could actually get worse.

--Bad day for the refs. 12 men in the huddle not called on that first third down despite MMβs rantings, the Jennings fumble in regular motion looked like his cheek was down, the other replays were inconclusive until they found that ONE camera angle that sure made it look like the ball came out. They missed a forearm to the helmet of Finley that was an obvious early call. I thought the roughing call on Rodgers was legit as their helmets did hit.

shaky officiating all game, with the blown facemasks, the non lateral and yeah i thought it is a penalty if you run after making a fair catch

About time the chitty refs got something right. Surprised they didn't blow the whistle while the coin was in the air.

5. Stafford and his receivers are playing really well together. The Lions also got screwed by the refs in this game. Kharma-wise, I'm not at all sure I want to see them in Lambeau January 15.

Why is that NOT a penalty, other than the fact this hit was by a hometown Saint?
The refs in this league just suck. Can't call illegal contact on one drive, and not call it on that last hit.

Whichever team you're rooting for, those refs were absolutely awful. That was the same Ref that got the rules of overtime wrong the week before. He's always terrible.

I usually make it a point to avoid complaining about refs, but this game is terribly one sided.

You're kidding... the officiating was horrible Thursday. Both sides. Several of the PI calls against both teams were HIGHLY questionable. Illegal hands to the face called, not called, called, not called.
The only call they DID seem to be on top of was the Suh play. The rest of their performance was subpar. Very subpar.

I agree with Pakrz. Put anyone of you or me out there and we would do no better. And if you think you can go to your high school association and apply to become a ref. Then work your way up through jr. college, NAIA, NFBS, FBS and then hopefullly get good enough to be one of the 2 or 3 who are selected as NFL refs each year.
As far as Thursday game, yes there were many inconsistancies. They will almost never call holding unless it directly effects the play, such as the hole the runner went thru or a QB sack. As for PI we can all scratch our heads on that.

What is going on now is a conspiracy that the NFL and their refs cook up some time back. This strike/lockout thing to get us to stop complaining about the regular ref screw-ups. Next time the real ref mess things up the NFL will say do you want us to get that women replacement ref wistle out of the HOF and put her back on the field? No, then shut and give us the money for the ticket.
quote:But I'll be willing to bet Goodell made damm sure the very best replacement crew was in NY for a reason
quote:I worry that they'll get blasted to missing calls that even the regular officials would've missed.
