Never been one to say there is a problem without offering a solution at the same time. If, as some have indicated the commish should be replaced who should fill his spot? I agree he can't be a yes man for the owners but not sure a former player is a good idea either (bias towards the players)? Probaly can't use a politician as might allienate the fans who lean the other way. So who does that leave?

I might get railed for it by I'd seriously consider a guy like TT. Great combination of business and football sense. Have at it, unless mods feel otherwise.

Mark Murphy.

That's why he, as president of the team that was f'ed over by incompetent referees hired and supported by the NFL, chose to keep quiet, saying nothing publicly. Until today, when he made a statement "clarifying" why he had said nothing.

According to Murphy, he did not want to influence the bargaining process going on between the owners and referees. He did not take questions from the media.

Murphy Speaks - Sort Of

This guy doesn't want to step on the toes of the commish or the cabal of owners behind the lockout cause he's angling for a NFL front office position. And commissioner will do nicely, thank you very much.
If Bob Harlan wasn't getting up there in age, I'd say he'd be a perfect fit. The problem is the owners don't want a commissioner like Rozelle anymore. As Steve Czaban put it--the owners want a glorified spokes ape who can take the PR hits for their stoopid mistakes.

Having said all that, I nominate Blair Kiel. That's a spokes ape that can get the job done, handle the PR hits with that charisma, and fling monkey poop when the going gets tough.
