Corey Hart, come on down. Doug's going to wait till the price comes down, because the lack of money to sign him but I think he will make a big mistake if he loses him. Corey can play a better 1st base on 2 gimpy knees than all the stiffs in the whole Brewer organization.

considering the link outlines how the trade won't happen, since you brought it up.
Nori has a higher OBP. SLG, and WAR than Davis. Aoki could start at 1st base and be an improvement over Ike. Unless you think last year was an aberration, due to injury or just incredibly bad luck, it would mean Milwaukee would take on salary to take on a lesser player. If Doug wants Davis, he can wait until the Mets release him.
I don't think Davis is as bad as he was last year, but for this to go down the Mets would have to take on salary and/or throw in a low A/high B prospect.
imo, Hart gets tested to play RF/LF if they get Davis, if he is good to go .... Aoki goes on the block in a trade for a near top of the rotation pitcher.
with Aoki's contract, hart's probable low-cost re-signing, Schafer serviceable and Davis signing almost dictates Aoki for a pitcher can happen.

I just do not think they can realistically compete in the division without making a move for a legit top of the rotation #1 or #2. Especially since I do not think we have a true #1.
Yo just is not the guy, IMO the young kid had better stuff last year.

if they make the trade for Davis, Davis will probably put up some big numbers. He just can't handle New York. The guy is a gold glove caliber 1st basement with very good power. He just needs to get out of New York where he changes his swing every other game. Not sure what Alderson would want but whatever he gets, it will not be a good trade from the Mets point after Davis puts it together.

Thornburg for Ike Davis would be a terrible move. Davis would require a platoon anyway, even if they think Thornburgs upside is reliever.
Still don't think Melvin screwed up the Hart deal.

This could be why we heard nothing. I would not deal Thornburg for this plug.
I would not deal Thornburg at this point. He really came on toward the end of the year last season and I think he could end up in the rotation for this team and at the very least he's a solid bullpen guy. You do not trade those type of guys unless it's a slam dunk type move.
