It appears that Mason is booming the ball longer than he has in previous years. I don't remember anywhere near the number of touchbacks on kickoffs than this year. Also, even though the 56 yarder yesterday was fairly close; in prior years I'm not sure he makes that or even attempts it without having the wind at his back. In any case kudos to him; for both the kickoffs and the field goals yesterday as it sure helped overall field position.

Can you imagine if he missed yesterday? DallAss would have had the football on the 46 yard line with a tie game and a couple minutes on the clock.

My memory sure ain't what it used to be, Iron, but I recall leg strength being Crosby's strongest point coming out of college.
JMHO, I think Slocum f****d with his technique big time a few years back, and it took him the better part of 2 seasons to recover from it. He has kicked very well this year.
I think Crosby has the leg to kick 60+ yarders easily; it's his accuracy from those distances that I don't have great confidence in.

It was about 5 years ago that the kick off yard line was changed from the 30 to the 35.  This made it easier to kick it beyond the end zone.

Crosby has always had the strong leg - but not so much the accuracy beyond 50 yards even coming out of college.  Then, like Timmy said he received some bad coaching - at least that is the perception - and had a couple bad years.  But he recovered and now his accuracy is much better besides.

I think that Crosby has always had a pretty strong leg. In the last few years his opportunities may have been limited a little because MM seems more likely to go for it (4th and medium). This is probably due to the team ,field conditions and not wanting to give the opponent the ball at the point of the kick. 50+ yard FGs at Lambeau are not a cakewalk. Crosby has been pretty consistent for a good long while (with one obvious exception).
